When: 7:00 p.m. Friday
Where: H.L. “Foots” Brumley Stadium, St. Augustine
Broadcast/streaming info: NFHS Network
Records: Nease, 3-0; St. Augustine, 3-0
Rankings: Nease is ranked No. 8 in Class 6A; St. Augustine is ranked No. 18 in the Florida Top 25 and is ranked No. 4 in Class 4A
What To Know: The visiting Panthers are coming off a 39-0 home victory over Fletcher in Week 4 … The host Yellow Jackets are coming off a barnburner game with Riverside (Jacksonville), winning that game, 47-35 … Both teams had games canceled in Week 3 due to weather-related issues … Nease has only given up 14 points so far this season in three games played compared to the 55 points St. Augustine has given up … Nease is averaging 33 points per game while St. Augustine is averaging 41 points per game … Keep an eye on Nate Harry for Nease who has thrown for 560 yards so far and seven touchdowns … Harry’s top target so far is Brayden Felder who has 217 yards receiving on 24 receptions and three touchdowns … KJ Perry leads Nease in rushing with 210 yards rushing on 34 carries and four touchdowns … St. Augustine will match the quarterback matchup with USF commit Locklan Hewlett who has already amassed 746 passing yards and six touchdowns in three games so far … Hewlett seems to be favoring two targets in most games with Carl Jenkins Jr. and Somourian Wingo … Wingo leads the team in receiving yards with 268 yards and two touchdowns while Jenkins has 241 yards receiving and 18 catches along with two touchdowns … Defensively speaking, Kyle Hurtado leads Nease in total tackles with 24 while Joe Miracle III leads the team in sacks at three-and-half … Christian Coleman leads the St. Augustine in tackles with 22 while Kyon Wilcox leads in sacks with two … Darrell Jenkins leads the Yellow Jackets with two interceptions.
Josh’s Pick: A good rivalry in Northeast Florida and St. Johns County more specifically and this will have a lot of people out watching this matchup. Given how both teams have played through the first three games, this game is almost a coin flip. If Nease was at home, I would lean towards the Panthers winning this game. However, with this being at Foots Brumley, I am thinking the Yellow Jackets will edge out the victory this week. ST. AUGUSTINE OVER NEASE
