Quick Notes: Trinity Christian got through their bracket in Region 1 with a fight with Maclay (Tallahassee) last week, while Chaminade-Madonna has been rolling on all cylinders and has beaten teams in the playoffs by a combined score of 182-6. That is enough to shock the system because no matter what opponents try to do, Chaminade-Madonna has been unstoppable ever since dropping their first two games of the season to St. John Bosco (CA) and Blanche Ely (Pompano Beach). With that said, Trinity Christian, who is facing Chaminade-Madonna for the first time since the 2020 Class 3A state championship game, is going to have to put up a fight with one of the youngest teams in Conquerors history. As such, the visiting Conquerors are going to have to figure out a way to keep the host Lions from finding their groove of scoring an average of 46.3 points per game. If they can split that number in half, they will have a chance to win the game. Keep an eye on quarterback Ty Chance, who took over as the team’s starting quarterback back in October after injuries and transfers caused the position to be a bit unbalanced this season. The Lions have used the running back position as well on offense more by committee this year, giving a variety of players a chance to touch the ball. For Trinity Christian, the Conquerors’ offense has been anemic compared to years past, with Terel Dallas leading the team in average total yards per game with 92.9 yards. That is a concern right there. As such, Trinity Christian is averaging just 283 yards per game, while Chaminade-Madonna is averaging 457.1 yards per game. Oh, and we haven’t talked about the defense yet, but defensively, the Lions are averaging 3.4 sacks per game, which will certainly concern the Conquerors, who are averaging just two sacks per game as well as a smaller number of tackles per game on average (47.5 compared to Chaminade-Madonna’s 55.7 tackles per game average). Overall, this game could be one of those of the haves and have-nots.
