2025 GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL RANKINGS

WEEK 2

Welcome to the second edition of the 2025 Girls Flag Football Rankings from FloridaHSFootball.com. After seeing how Week 1 played out for teams, we are feeling confident that a lot of the teams ranked last week deserved to be in the Florida Top 25 or ranked in their classification.

Some things taken into consideration this week include team performance along with an understanding that not everyone is at full strength due to some teams having athletes in postseason playoffs for basketball or soccer which can impact a team until those athletes become available for the season.

We will update these rankings weekly and will provide a Top 10 for each of the four classifications along with our Florida Top 25 which is the Top 25 teams in girls flag football regardless of classification. To be ranked in the Florida Top 25, teams have to be ranked in the Top 10 of their classification to be considered.

Quality Wins: Miami Palmetto (2A); Quality Losses: None

Our biggest mover in the rankings this week comes to the Red Raiders, getting the biggest win of the week over previous No. 2 Miami Palmetto. The Red Raiders also defeated Mater Lakes Academy (1A).

9. Miami Palmetto (4A), 1-1, 2

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: Miami Edison (1A)

A one-point loss to Miami Edison (1A) see the Panthers slip down the Florida Top 25 rankings some, but not enough to be displaced out of the Top 10.

10. Pace (3A), 1-0, 11

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: None

The entire Patriots team did everything right and then some as they put up the highest score of the week with a 72-0 victory over Pine Forest (Pensacola) (2A) to start off 2025 on the right note.

11. Clay (Green Cove Springs) (2A), 1-0, 13

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: None

The Blue Devils easily handled a Dunnellon (2A) team that was coming off a big win to start off the 2025 season on the winning track.

12. Florida High (Tallahassee) (1A), 3-0, 16

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: None

Pitching three shutouts is usually no easy task for any team in a given week, but that is exactly what the Seminoles did notching wins over Rickards (Tallahassee) (2A), Lincoln (Tallahassee) (3A), and Tocoi Creek (St. Augustine) (4A).

13. Miami Southridge (3A), 2-0, 17

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: None

Two wins over Monsignor Pace (1A) and Somerset Silver Palms (Miami) (1A) has the Spartans starting on the right track to open the 2025 season.

14. Steinbrenner (Lutz) (4A), 4-1, 24

Quality Wins: Osceola (Seminole) (2A); Quality Losses: Alonso (Tampa) (4A)

Our second biggest mover in the rankings, a close loss to previous No. 5 Alonso (Tampa) (4A) is what you can consider a quality loss you can look at later this season as part of the body of work of this team. Steinbrenner picked up wins over previous Class 2A No. 9 Osceola (Seminole), Tampa Bay Tech (3A), and Riverview (Riverview) (4A).

15. New Smyrna Beach (2A), 2-0, NR

Quality Wins: Fleming Island (3A); Quality Losses: None

We welcome the Barracudas as the first of five new teams to the rankings after picking up a huge victory over Fleming Island (3A) as one of two wins last week. The other win came against Matanzas (Palm Coast) (3A) as New Smyrna Beach yielded only six points in total to open the season.

16. St. Petersburg (2A), 2-0, NR

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: None

The Green Devils are the second team to join our Florida Top 25 rankings, and they are out to a fast start after picking up wins over Northeast (St. Petersburg) (2A) and Hollins (St. Petersburg) (3A) only yielding six points in total last week.

17. Ed White (Jacksonville) (2A), 1-1, 14

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: None

The Commanders started off well with a win over Tocoi Creek (St. Augustine) (4A) but slipped up in a 13-6 loss to Sandalwood (Jacksonville) (4A) in the Jacksonville Jaguars Girls Flag Football Game of the Week.

18. Stanton (Jacksonville) (2A), 1-0, NR

Quality Wins: Fletcher (3A); Quality Losses: None

The Blue Devils showed they might just be back to form fully as one of the top teams in Jacksonville after picking up a huge win over a quality Fletcher (Neptune Beach) (3A) team. That win moves the Blue Devils inside the Florida Top 25 as our third team to join the rankings this week.

19. Fletcher (Neptune Beach) (3A), 1-1, 12

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: Stanton (2A)

Things started off well for the Senators, easily taking care of business against Bartram Trail (St. Johns) (3A), but dropped a critical game against a very quality Stanton (Jacksonville) (2A) team.

20. Somerset Canyons (Boynton Beach) (1A), 2-0, 18

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: None

The Cougars won their games last week, both being shutouts, over Pahokee (1A) and Olympic Heights (Boca Raton) (4A). However, a few things need to be cleaned up if they are to have prolonged success once again in 2025.

21. Boyd Anderson (Lauderdeale Lakes) (3A), 2-0, NR

Quality Wins: Western (Davie) (4A); Quality Losses: None

The fourth team to enter our Florida Top 25 rankings this week, the Cobras picked up a big in over previous No. 9 Western (Davie) (4A) to start off the season on the right note. Boyd Anderson also picked up a win over Coconut Creek (3A).

22. Wellington (4A), 2-0, NR

The final team to enter our Florida Top 25 rankings this week, the Wolverines made a statement to start the season after defeating previous No. 15 Homestead (3A) in a shutout to start the season while also shutting out Cardinal Newman (West Palm Beach) (1A).

23. Western (Davie) (4A), 1-1, 9

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: Boyd Anderson (3A)

The biggest stumbler in this week’s ranking is the Wildcats who dropped a 13-0 decision to Boyd Anderson (Lauderdale Lakes) (3A). However, Western did bounce back picking up a win over Cooper City (3A).

24. Timber Creek (Orlando) (4A), 2-0, 23

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: None

Sometimes you move back one within the rankings due to no fault of your own as the opening of the week of the season saw some teams put on statements and thus warranted changes in the rankings. The Wolves picked up wins over Cornerstone Charter (Belle Isle) (IND) and East River (Orlando) (3A) to start the season.

25. Homestead (3A), 0-1, 15

Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: Wellington (4A)
