2025 GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL RANKINGS
WEEK 4
Welcome to the fourth edition of the 2025 Girls Flag Football Rankings from FloridaHSFootball.com. With two weeks of the season done, there are some changes that are coming about to the Florida Top 25 and the Classification Rankings this week.
Now that we are three weeks into the season and heading into our fourth week, some things are starting to become more evident along the way here as some teams have played 50 percent of their schedule already with three and half weeks of the regular season left to go before district tournaments and post season action come upon us.
The first thing that has become evident to us is the fact there is truly no-clear cut No. 1 team in Florida so far this season. While yes, we have three weeks’ worth of games to be the judge on, it is worth explaining how we have come to our conclusions about where these teams have landed at, especially on the Florida Top 25. It is not just about providing a short sentence but showing our work along the way to why we put one team here versus another team and so forth.
Second thing is we never want to rush our rankings out on a hash. It is important to look at what is going on in each of the four classifications to build up towards the Florida Top 25. Teams that are playing more of a round-robin schedule in their own county or not exploring playing opponents in other regions will have a harder time moving up the rankings versus teams that are making the efforts to enhance their schedule.
The third and final thing is after almost a decade of covering girls flag football, we realize that each region of the state has different styles of play, and these observations are not lost on us. However, as time has grown on the sport of girls’ flag football in Florida, there have been more teams wanting to learn from the best and have taken the opportunities to do so have usually climbed the rankings. It is important to understand these geographical understandings and how each program is built. The more things change the more things stay the same.
And honestly this will be the final thing I say leading into this week’s rankings… it is fact that yes, we are more hesitant to rank a team in the Florida Top 25 or even in our classification rankings that is a first-year program or even just recently established in the first few years. However, if a newer program shows they can compete, they will catch our attention, and a few teams have done just that. While yes flag football and tackle football have a lot of similarities, there is are also a lot of things that make girls flag football unique compared the boys over on the tackle side and honestly you have to know where flag football is different at and understand not every region or even every team is playing the same style of flag football when it comes to the game in Florida.
We will update these rankings weekly and will provide a Top 10 for each of the four classifications along with our Florida Top 25 which is the Top 25 teams in girls flag football regardless of classification. To be ranked in the Florida Top 25, teams must be ranked in the Top 10 of their classification to be considered.
Rankings consider games played through Sat. March 8, 2025
FLORIDA TOP 25
Ranking, Team, Classification, Current Record, Previous
Quality wins and quality loses are listed in order of most recent quality win or quality loss

1. Robinson (Tampa) (2A), 8-1, 3
Quality Wins: Lennard (Ruskin) (4A); Steinbrenner (Lutz) (4A) (x2); Belleview (3A); Bloomingdale (Valrico) (4A); Quality Losses: Alonso (Tampa) (4A)
Déjà vu happening in the rankings? Maybe, but honestly what we really have here is a triangle of confusion with the rankings because Robinson, Alonso and Lennard are all 1-1 against each other after the way things played out at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ She Is Football Inaugural Flag Football Tournament in Tampa. Honestly, while out of the games Robinson has the worst loss between the meetings of the three teams mentioned (who are also ranked in the Florida Top 25), they also have the most recent quality win that named them the inaugural trophy for the She Is Football tournament. This is the best way we are going to be able to explain this ranking for now.

2. Lennard (Ruskin) (4A), 8-1, 2
Quality Wins: Alonso (Tampa) (4A), Newsome (Lithia) (4A); Quality Losses: Robinson (Tampa) (2A)
It was mostly a pretty good week for the Longhorns and almost had Robinson right where they wanted them in the She Is Football Flag Football Tournament, but it slipped away in the second half and honestly it is a tough out, but when you lose against ultimately the best program to ever play the sport in Florida, it is a quality loss and one that is only going to drive the Longhorns through their mottos “Process Driven” and “Been Known.” This split between beating Alonso and losing to Robinson keeps Lennard right at No. 2.

3. Alonso (Tampa) (4A), 7-1, 1
Quality Wins: Steinbrenner (Lutz) (4A) (x2), St. Petersburg (2A), Robinson (Tampa) (1A); Quality Losses: Lennard (Ruskin) (4A)
Man, oh man… the last team in the triangle of confusion of who should be No. 1 overall this week. I made it clear at the start there is no clear-cut No. 1 team in Florida right now and let’s be honest Tampa Bay is the place you have to go through in girls flag football like South Florida is the place you have to go through in tackle football. That loss to Lennard just made things even more confusing and honestly, we will see both teams together again in the post-season. Despite all of that, Alonso did pick up two more quality wins this week with another against Steinbrenner and another against a rising St. Petersburg (2A) team.

4. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) (3A), 5-0, 4
Quality Wins: Pembroke Pines Charter (3A); Quality Losses: None
The Raiders have hit the celling for now of where they can clime in our Florida Top 25 rankings. This past week St. Thomas Aquinas picked up wins over McArthur (Hollywood) (3A) and Piper (Sunrise) (4A).

5. Seminole Ridge (Westlake) (3A), 5-0, 5
Quality Wins: Homestead (3A); Quality Losses: None
The Hawks hold steady this week and picked up their first quality win of the season with a victory over Homestead (3A). Other wins this past week include those over Boca Raton (4A) and Royal Palm Beach (4A).

6. Choctawhatchee (Fort Walton Beach) (2A), 6-0, 6
Quality Wins: Belleview (3A), Chiles (Tallahassee) (3A), East Bay (Gibsonton) (3A),Navarre (3A); Quality Losses: None
The Indians clinched the Gold Bracket at the Capital City Classic picking up quality wins against East Bay, Chiles and then Belleview in the championship game. Choctaw also added a victory from earlier in the week over Fort Walton Beach (2A).

7. Miami Edison (1A), 6-0, 7
Quality Wins: Miami Palmetto (2A); Quality Losses: None
The Red Raiders easily handled business this past week, picking up two more wins over AIE Charter (Miami Springs) (1A) and Miami High (4A) to remain undefeated on the season.

8. Miami Palmetto (4A), 4-1, 9
Quality Wins: Western (Davie) (4A); Quality Losses: Miami Edison (1A)
The Panthers picked up their first quality win of the season, almost mercy ruling Western on the road.

9. Pace (3A), 5-0, 10
Quality Wins: Navarre (3A); Quality Losses: None
A quality win over a previous Class 3A ranked Navarre helps some for the Patriots who keep their undefeated record in tack with three games slated this week before spring break comes next week.

10. Clay (Green Cove Springs) (2A), 4-0, 10
Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: None
The Blue Devils held steady this week after pitching their third shutout in four games played, this time over in-county rival Orange Park (3A).

11. Wellington (4A), 6-0, 15
Quality Wins: Western (Davie) (4A), Homestead (3A); Quality Losses: None
With several teams ahead of the Wolverines last week falling in one or multiple games this past week, it allowed the chance for a move in the rankings and that is what is happening here. Wellington picked up wins over previous Florida Top 25 team Western as well as win over Dwyer (Palm Beach Gardens) (4A).

12. Spanish River (Boca Raton) (4A), 6-0, 16
Quality Wins: Jensen Beach (2A),Osceola (Seminole) (2A), Sumner (Riverview) (4A), Palm Beach Gardens (3A); Quality Losses: None
Like Wellington, Spanish River is making a steady climb up in the rankings after picking up a solid victory over a good Jensen Beach team to give them their fourth quality win of the season, thus validating their standing even more so in the Florida Top 25.

13. Palm Beach Gardens (4A), 6-1, 19
Quality Wins: Miami Southridge (3A), Fort Pierce Central (4A); Quality Losses: Spanish River (Boca Raton) (4A)
Really like what we are starting to see out of the Gators and honestly when you can handle another Top 25 foe and shut them out, that is going to a long way for you as they did against Miami Southridge. Palm Beach Gardens also picked up wins this past week over Palm Beach Lakes (West Palm Beach) (4A) and Jupiter (4A).

14. Steinbrenner (Lutz) (4A), 6-4, 12
Quality Wins: Newsome (Lithia) (4A), Strawberry Crest (Dover) (4A), Osceola (Seminole) (2A); Quality Losses: Alonso (Tampa) (4A) (x2), Robinson (Tampa) (x2)
Will some say we should not drop the Warriors a couple of spots here given who they played? Sure, but taking on three losses in a week is not something we can fully overlook. Yes, the Warriors four losses are from two teams in Robinson – both which came this past week – and Alonso and that is highly respectable, but we got to see more from Steinbrenner with the remaining five games left on the schedule and we won’t see any more action again out of Steinbrenner until the end of the month. However, on the positive note, the Warriors did pick up their third quality win of the season with a victory over Newsome.

15. Ed White (Jacksonville) (2A), 3-1, 17
Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: None
The Commanders had a rare week off with no games after their game at Bradford (Starke) (1A) was rescheduled for April 9 – the final day of the 2025 regular season.

16. Fletcher (Neptune Beach) (3A), 5-1, 18
Quality Wins: Paxon (Jacksonville) (2A); Quality Losses: Stanton (2A)
The Senators handled business this week picking up victories over Middleburg (3A) along with picking up their first quality win of the season with a victory over Paxon.

17. Somerset Canyons (Boynton Beach) (1A), 6-0, 20
Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: None
The Cougars racked up more wins this past week with victories over Atlantic (Delray Beach) (3A) and Palm Beach Central (Wellington) (4A).

18. Fort Pierce Central (4A), 6-1, 21
Quality Wins: None; Quality Losses: Palm Beach Gardens (4A)
Bouncing back after dropping their first game of the season last week to Palm Beach Gardens, the Cobras nabbed wins in back-to-back shutouts over Centennial (Port St. Lucie) (4A) and Mainland (Daytona Beach) (3A).

19. Stoneman Douglas (Parkland) (4A), 5-0, 22
Quality Wins: Boyd Anderson (Lauderdale Lakes) (3A); Quality Losses: None
Another rare week off for a team not on spring break as the Eagles hold steady at 5-0. However, the Eagles will finally be home for the first time this season this week.

20. Boyd Anderson (Lauderdale Lakes) (3A), 4-1, 25
Quality Wins: Western (Davie) (4A), True North (Miami) (1A); Quality Losses: Stoneman Douglas (Parkland) (4A)
The Cobras move up in the rankings with a reshuffling in the Florida Top 25 despite not playing any games last week. However, three games are on deck this week for Boyd Anderson.

21. Land O’ Lakes (3A), 6-0, NR
Quality Wins: Sumner (Riverview) (4A), New Smyrna Beach (2A); Quality Losses: None
We welcome in the first our newly ranked Florida Top 25 teams into the rankings this week thanks to the Gators picking up a huge overtime victory against previously No. 13 ranked New Smyrna Beach at the Capital City Classic in Tallahassee. That victory allowed Land O’ Lakes – who is in their first year of flag football in Pasco County – to guide them to the Silver Bracket Championship at the Capital City Classic over Sumner that gave them two quality wins.

22. New Smyrna Beach (2A), 4-0, 13
Quality Wins: Osceola (Seminole) (2A); Fleming Island (3A); Quality Losses: Land O’ Lakes (3A)
The overtime loss to Land O’ Lakes at the Capital City Classic put the Barracudas down in the rankings going into Week 4. Yes, they will have to fix some things, but if you look at what they have been doing and the coaching staff New Smyrna Beach has, I feel honestly, they are still a Top 25 team in the state.

23. Bloomingdale (Valrico) (4A), 4-1, NR
Quality Wins: Newsome (Lithia) (4A); Quality Losses: Robinson (Tampa) (2A)
The second team to enter the Florida Top 25 this week, we were a little bit of a hold out here on the Bulls and sometimes you must admit when you are wrong. Honestly should have had Bloomingdale ranked sooner – but later than never, right?

24. Bradford (Starke) (1A), 5-0, NR
Quality Wins: Suwannee (Live Oak) (1A); Quality Losses: None
Alright the Tornadoes are entering our Florida Top 25 rankings for the first time this season. They are a quality squad with some talented athletes but also have some young athletes that will certainly start to show out as they learn and grow the game. Oh, did I mention head coach John Staples is back after one year away? Yes, coaching and talent combined has Bradford back in the conversation once more.

25. Belleview (3A), 8-2, NR
Quality Wins: Florida High (Tallahassee) (1A), Navarre (3A); Quality Losses: Choctawhatchee (Fort Walton Beach) (2A), Robinson (Tampa) (2A)
Hear me out… Belleview is flying under a lot of people’s radars but if you look at who they have played, you will see why we are making a bold move here. Yes, the Rattlers have two losses here, but they are quality losses to Top 10 teams in Choctawhatchee – a five-point loss in the Capital City Classic in Tallahassee and an eight-point loss against the top team in the state against Robinson. However, they do have quality wins against Florida High and Navarre that help their case further to be ranked. Belleview is going to do some great things with five games left on the schedule and will be the favorite to win their district.
DROPPED OUT: No. 11 Miami Southridge (3A); No. 14 St. Petersburg (2A); No. 23 Western (4A); No. 24 Homestead (3A)
