Week 1 is officially in the books, and the Northeast Florida Region delivered some incredible performances to kick off the 2025 season. From game-changing plays to dominating stat lines, athletes all across the region made their mark on opening week.
After reviewing box scores and standout highlights, we narrowed the field down to 10 finalists for the very first The Blitz – Northeast Florida Football Player of the Week award. We also spotlighted a few more athletes who were strongly considered.

Totaled 89 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries and added 40 passing yards in a 45–28 win over Trinity Christian.
RB Phillip Cameron, Stanton
Ripped off 242 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries in a 48–20 win over Bishop Snyder.
RB Xander Edwards, Bolles
Ran for 157 yards on 12 carries (13.1 per rush) and scored twice in a 34–15 win over Monarch.
QB Brenton James, St. Augustine
Completed 11 of 19 for 191 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing score in a 41–0 win over Palatka.
QB Aiden Phifer, Nease
Threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns and added a rushing score in a 38–28 win over Ponte Vedra.
RB Raszir Phelps, Interlachen
Ran for 146 yards including a 75-yard touchdown and added a 67-yard receiving score in a 36–0 win over Keystone Heights.
ATH Jordin Price, Oakleaf
Sparked the Knights with a 75-yard punt-return touchdown and two interceptions in a 23–14 win over Riverside.
RB Antonio Queen, Andrew Jackson
Carried 10 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns and returned a punt 60 yards for a score in a 51–0 win over KIPP Bold City.
DE Dominic Swilley, Middleburg
Logged six tackles (three for loss), two sacks, three hurries and a pick-six in a 58–14 win over Westside.
WR Brysen Wright, Mandarin
Hauled in six receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown and added a pick-six in a 42–20 win over Creekside.
