We take a closer look at six matchups that stood out across the Central Florida region, highlighting big moments, key performances, and games that kept fans talking.
OCOEE 30, OLYMPIA 16
Senior quarterback Tyson Davison rushed for 59 yards and one touchdown while completing eight of 17 passes for 82 yards and one score as visiting Ocoee (2-0) defeated Olympia (0-2) in Friday’s matchup. … Senior Jayden Safford added 39 rushing yards and one touchdown while senior Michael Blackmon contributed 55 rushing yards to lead the Knights’ balanced ground attack that accumulated 199 total rushing yards. … Olympia junior quarterback Noble Davis completed 14 of 30 passes for 225 yards and one touchdown but was limited to minus-15 rushing yards on seven carries by Ocoee’s defense. … Junior Kristopher Munroe led the Titans with three catches for 95 yards while senior Steve Moore hauled in two receptions for 40 yards and one touchdown in the losing effort. … The Knights controlled the game on both sides of the ball, recording nine tackles for loss and one sack while building a 16-7 halftime lead and extending it to 30-16 after three quarters, with both teams remaining scoreless in the final period.
BERKELEY (SC) 52, WINTER PARK 45
The Wildcats (0-2) fell short in a high-scoring road contest against host Berkeley, unable to hold leads despite putting up 45 points in the back-and-forth battle in South Carolina. … Winter Park built early momentum with 12 first-quarter points and extended their advantage to 31-15 at halftime before Berkeley rallied with a strong second half. … The Wildcats managed just seven points in the third quarter while the Stags scored 14 to cut into the deficit, setting up a dramatic fourth quarter where both teams combined for 21 points. … Berkeley junior quarterback Henry Rivers proved to be the difference-maker, accounting for three rushing touchdowns and two passing scores while adding 72 rushing yards for the Stags. … Winter Park’s offense generated substantial yardage but couldn’t match Berkeley’s balanced attack that accumulated 423 total yards, with the Wildcats falling seven points short in the disappointing road defeat to the inter-state opponent.
DELAND 56, NEW SMYRNA BEACH 21
Senior Marceles Carey rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns while hauling in three catches for 97 yards as host DeLand (2-0) dominated New Smyrna Beach (1-1) in Friday’s lopsided victory. … Junior quarterback Gardner Nordman completed six of nine passes for 130 yards and one touchdown while adding 21 rushing yards to pace the Bulldogs’ balanced offensive attack that accumulated 556 total yards. … Senior Ryan Joseph contributed 116 rushing yards while sophomore Taihj Moore added 78 rushing yards and two touchdowns as DeLand’s ground game overwhelmed the Barracudas with 426 total rushing yards. … New Smyrna Beach senior quarterback Cole Engler completed 11 of 21 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns but was limited to minus-nine rushing yards on 10 carries by DeLand’s defense. … Junior Vance Murray caught five passes for 121 yards and all three touchdowns for the Barracudas, who managed just 19 rushing yards as a team while falling victim to four sacks and six tackles for loss from the Bulldogs’ defense.

Senior quarterback Noah Grubbs completed 11 of 15 passes for 108 yards and one touchdown while adding four rushing yards as visiting Lake Mary (2-0), ranked No. 12 in the Florida Power Rankings Index, defeated Osceola (1-1), ranked No. 18 in the Florida Power Rankings Index, in Friday’s battle of ranked teams between the two state runner-ups from Class 7A and Class 6A in 2024. … Senior Terrance Dixon hauled in four catches for 57 yards and one touchdown to pace the Rams’ receiving attack, while senior Josh Robinson returned a kickoff for a touchdown to provide Lake Mary’s other score. … The Rams managed just 125 total yards of offense but controlled the game with timely scoring and solid defense against the Kowboys. … Lake Mary built a 14-6 halftime advantage and added a field goal in the fourth quarter while limiting Osceola to 12 points in the defensive struggle. … Junior Lucas Parker contributed a 25-yard field goal and converted two extra points for the Rams, who extended their perfect start to the season with the road victory over the Kowboys.
