DELTONA 14, VIERA 6
Senior quarterback Eric Nelson completed nine of 11 passes for 63 yards while adding 62 rushing yards to lead Viera’s offensive effort, but visiting Deltona (2-0) prevailed over Viera (1-1) in Friday’s defensive struggle. … Junior Duke Butler contributed 85 rushing yards on 12 carries for the Hawks, who managed 218 total yards against the Wolves. … Senior Jonah Woodruff scored Viera’s lone touchdown on a receiving strike from Nelson while also hauling in two catches for 14 yards. … Senior Shaun Hartman Jr paced the Hawks’ receiving corps with seven receptions for 49 yards in the defeat. … Viera’s defense was led by senior James Olson with 13 tackles and three tackles for loss, while Deltona forced two fumbles with recoveries by senior Tyrese Grigsby and freshman Aaden Baldwin to help secure the road victory.
TRINITY CATHOLIC AT TRINITY CATHOLIC – CANCELED
Thunderstorms forced the cancellation of Friday’s contest between Trinity Catholic (1-0) and host Melbourne Central Catholic (1-0) before halftime with the Hustlers leading 21-14. The game will not be made up. Trinity Catholic will host Forest on Friday while Melbourne Central Catholic is set to host Saint Andrew’s in their upcoming Week 3 games.
EAU GALLIE 23, ROCKLEDGE 14
X’Zavier Corbin rushed for two touchdowns of 54 and 74 yards to lead the Commodores (2-0) past visiting Rockledge (0-2) in Friday’s matchup. … Quarterback Brody Grantland connected with Captain Rolle on an eight-yard scoring strike to help Eau Gallie build an early 14-0 advantage in the first quarter. … Rockledge answered when quarterback Joseph Watkins Jr found Elijah Mitchell for a 65-yard touchdown pass with 6:24 remaining in the opening period. … Mitchell hauled in his second touchdown reception from Watkins Jr in the third quarter to pull the Raiders within two points before Corbin broke loose for his 74-yard scoring run. … The Commodores controlled the ground game while limiting Rockledge’s comeback attempt to secure their second consecutive victory at home.
