Week 2 is officially in the books, and the Central Florida Region delivered more incredible performances here in the early stages of the 2025 season. From game-changing plays to dominating stat lines, athletes all across the region made their mark on opening week.
After reviewing box scores and standout highlights, we narrowed the field down to 10 finalists for the second The Blitz – Central Florida Football Player of the Week award. We also spotlighted a few more athletes who were strongly considered.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – WEEK 1
RB TJ McCormick, Mount Dora Christian
Congratulations to Mount Dora Christian RB TJ McCormick on winning The Blitz – Central Florida Player of the Week for Week 1! McCormick rushed for 224 yards and four touchdowns on nine carries in a 56–35 win over Lake Highland Prep.
WEEK 2 NOMINEES
ATH Marceles Carey, DeLand
Exploded for 222 all-purpose yards with 125 rushing and 97 receiving while scoring two touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 56–21 rout of New Smyrna Beach.
RB Daryl Ellis, East Ridge
Powered the ground attack with 149 rushing yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns to lead the Knights to a 28–25 victory over Mount Dora.
LB Aidan Greer, Lake Brantley
Stuffed the stat sheet with 10 tackles, three tackles for loss, three sacks, and a forced fumble while also contributing 32 yards receiving on offense in the Patriots’ 42–7 win over East River.
QB Sebastian Johnson, Mainland
Carved up Cocoa by completing 17-of-26 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns in the Buccaneers’ 19–14 road upset.
QB Jeremiah Lattier, St. Cloud
Picked apart Pine Ridge by going 16-of-26 for 344 yards and three passing touchdowns, while adding 34 rushing yards and two scores in the Bulldogs’ 41–0 shutout.
QB Sabby Meassick, Tohopekaliga
Was nearly flawless, completing 25 of 34 passes for 502 yards and six touchdowns in the Tigers’ 42–0 shutout of Lyman.
QB PJ Miller, Spruce Creek
Did it all with 305 yards passing and two touchdowns while adding 91 rushing yards, finishing with 396 total yards of offense in the Hawks’ 25–22 victory over Avon (OH).
OLB Michael Onorata, West Orange
Stuffed the stat sheet with three tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, a fumble recovery, and a touchdown in the Warriors’ 38–14 victory over Wekiva.
LB Marje Foster-Wilson, Winter Springs
Stuffed the stat sheet with eight tackles (four for loss), a quarterback hurry, and an interception return touchdown in the Bears’ 17–3 win over Celebration.
QB Cole Walker, Matanzas
Directed the offense by going 23-of-40 passing for 314 yards and three touchdowns in the Pirates’ 43–24 win over University (Orange City).
