Week 2 is officially in the books, and the Southwest Florida Region delivered more incredible performances here in the early stages of the 2025 season. From game-changing plays to dominating stat lines, athletes all across the region made their mark on opening week.
After reviewing box scores and standout highlights, we narrowed the field down to 10 finalists for the second The Blitz – Southwest Florida Football Player of the Week award. We also spotlighted a few more athletes who were strongly considered.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – WEEK 1
LB Ayden Dunnell, Taylor County
Congratulations to Taylor County LB Ayden Dunnellon on winning The Blitz – Panhandle Player of the Week for Week 1! Dunnell registered 12 tackles, including one for loss, with a sack, an interception, and a fumble recovery in a 20–3 win over Fort White.
WEEK 2 NOMINEES
LB Ellis Alloway, Choctawhatchee
Dominated defensively with 7 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 3 quarterback hurries in the Indians’ 42–0 shutout against Navarre.
QB JD Brown, South Walton
Orchestrated the Seahawks’ offense by completing 22 of 35 passes for 241 yards and 2 touchdowns while adding 43 rushing yards in the 29–16 win over Fort Walton Beach.
QB Jabez Glanton, Taylor County
Did it all in the Bulldogs’ 27–21 win over Wakulla, passing for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns while also rushing 27 times for 211 yards and 2 more scores.
RB Junior Harris, Destin
Exploded for 216 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns on just 12 carries, adding a 16-yard reception in the Sharks’ 34–22 loss to Baker.
DB Matthew Lollie, Liberty County
Brought impact on defense with 6 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 2 interceptions returned for 49 yards in the 45–0 win against Vernon.
QB Carter Nunes, Freeport
Sliced up the Jay defense by completing 14 of 21 passes for 312 yards and a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ 31–14 win.
LB Aiden Spratt, Milton
Dominated defensively with 18 tackles (3 TFL) and forced a fumble in the Panthers’ 41–6 win over Pensacola.
QB Trae Townsend, Booker T. Washington (Pensacola)
Completed 15 of 25 passes for 270 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in the Wildcats’ 28–20 win over West Florida.
RB Makael Williams, Pace
Exploded for 283 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 22 carries to power the Patriots’ 41–20 win over Pensacola Catholic.
QB Will Cotter, Arnold
Set the tone with 254 yards passing and 3 touchdowns while adding 18 rushing yards in the Marlins’ 27–6 win over Providence Christian (AL).
