Week 2 is officially in the books, and the Southwest Florida Region delivered more incredible performances here in the early stages of the 2025 season. From game-changing plays to dominating stat lines, athletes all across the region made their mark on opening week.
After reviewing box scores and standout highlights, we narrowed the field down to 10 finalists for the second The Blitz – Southwest Florida Football Player of the Week award. We also spotlighted a few more athletes who were strongly considered.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – WEEK 1
QB Jaydis Wiley, Bayshore
Congratulations to Bayshore QB Jaydis Wiley on winning The Blitz – Southwest Florida Player of the Week for Week 1! Wiley threw for 255 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 57 yards, accounting for all 312 offensive yards in a 36–30 overtime win over Sarasota.
WEEK 2 NOMINEES
DL Amani Armstrong, Cardinal Mooney
Dominated up front with six tackles, five tackles for loss, and two sacks in a disruptive effort despite the 24–21 loss to Cherry Creek (CO).
WR Ayden Gonzalez, Bishop Verot
Hauled in nine catches for 166 yards and two touchdowns while also tossing a 60-yard touchdown pass in the Vikings’ 44–34 triumph over True North Classical Academy.
QB Theodis Harris, Riverdale
Went 10-of-17 passing for 261 yards and two touchdowns while also adding a rushing score as the Raiders defeated South Fort Myers 43–18.
QB Austin Hill, Southwest Florida Christian
Completed 15 of 25 passes for 341 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 19 yards as the King’s cruised past Palmetto Ridge 49–14.
RB Nino Joseph, Lely
Powered the ground game with 257 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 32 carries, finishing with 268 all-purpose yards in the Trojans’ 42–38 loss to Calvary Christian (Clearwater).
RB Alijah Molina, Naples
Rushed for 139 yards and four touchdowns on nine carries while also throwing for 55 yards in the Golden Eagles’ 49–13 win over Barron Collier.
QB Owen O’Leary, Mariner
Delivered a near-perfect night, completing 12 of 19 passes for 293 yards and five touchdowns, guiding the Tritons to a 38–0 shutout of Bonita Springs.
CB Jared Sanders, Manatee
Posted two interceptions, two pass breakups, and returned a fumble for a touchdown in the Hurricanes’ 42–14 win over Southeast.
WR Jayden Rivers, Sarasota
Hauled in 10 passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns, powering the Sailors’ offense in a 27–7 victory against Braden River.
QB Maddox Stewart, Estero
Completed 19 of 29 passes for 332 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 56 rushing yards and a score as the Wildcats rolled past Aubrey Rogers 56–10.
