Week 2 is officially in the books, and the Space & Treasure Coast Region delivered more incredible performances here in the early stages of the 2025 season. From game-changing plays to dominating stat lines, athletes all across the region made their mark on opening week.
After reviewing box scores and standout highlights, we narrowed the field down to 10 finalists for the second The Blitz – Space & Treasure Coast Football Player of the Week award. We also spotlighted a few more athletes who were strongly considered.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – WEEK 1
LB Daiden Gilmore, Merritt Island Christian
Congratulations to Merritt Island Christian LB Daiden Gilmore on winning The Blitz – Space & Treasure Coast Player of the Week for Week 1! Gilmore racked up 25 tackles with three tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in a 44–8 win over Ocala Christian.
WEEK 2 NOMINEES
LB Christopher Bazile, Legacy (Port St. Lucie)
Led the defense with 13 tackles, including three tackles for loss, plus a forced fumble and recovery in a 36–20 win over Olympic Heights.
RB X’Zavier Corbin, Eau Gallie
Freshman sensation erupted for 245 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, averaging 22.3 per attempt, and added a 10-yard catch plus 24 yards on kick returns in a 23–14 win over Rockledge.
RB Enzo Hairabedian, Legacy (Port St. Lucie)
Piled up 154 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries, added two receptions and a two-point run in Legacy’s 36–20 victory over Olympic Heights.
WR Elijah Mitchell, Rockledge
Freshman wideout hauled in four catches for 148 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 37 yards per reception in a breakout performance in a 23-14 loss to Eau Gallie.
WR Amarion Queen, Martin County
Erupted for 204 yards receiving and three touchdowns on five catches in a 37–12 win over Boynton Beach.
QB Zion Sandy, Space Coast
Completed 17 of 22 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns while adding 80 rushing yards and a score in a 54–8 win over St. Edward’s.
LB Preston Sherrill, Cocoa Beach
Registered seven tackles with one tackle for loss, a sack, and recovered a fumble in a 27–20 win over Master’s Academy.
QB Kevin Verpaele, Merritt Island
Completed 22 of 28 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns, adding a rushing score to lead a 42–21 win over Melbourne.
QB Joseph Watkins Jr., Rockledge
Threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns on 13-of-22 passing while adding 32 rushing yards in the Raiders’ 23–14 loss.
QB Efrem White, Vero Beach
Went 18-of-24 passing for 321 yards and three touchdowns, adding 92 rushing yards and a score for 413 total yards and four total TDs.
