Week 3 is officially in the books, and the South Florida Region delivered more incredible performances here in the early stages of the 2025 season. From game-changing plays to dominating stat lines, athletes all across the region made their mark on opening week.
After reviewing box scores and standout highlights, we narrowed the field down to 10 finalists for the second The Blitz – South Florida Football Player of the Week award. We also spotlighted a few more athletes who were strongly considered.

MLB Ethan Phillips, North Broward Prep
Dominated the trenches with seven tackles, five tackles for loss, and five sacks in a 31–14 win over Westminster Academy.
WEEK 3 NOMINEES
RB Samuel Arnold, Pahokee
Rushed 19 times for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 40-7 win over Seminole Ridge.
DE Trevoris Finley, Chaminade-Madonna
Led the defensive charge with 7 tackles and 3 sacks, sparking the Lions’ front seven in crunch time in a 28-24 come-from-behind victory over American Heritage (Plantation).
QB Zachary Katz, True North
Efficiently directed the offense by completing 14 of 19 passes for 154 yards and three touchdowns in the 49–18 victory against Monsignor Pace.
DE Ty Kirkpatrick, Cardinal Newman
Dominated defensively with 4 tackles, including 2 tackles for loss and 2 sacks, in the 47-0 shutout of Benjamin.
QB Mason Mallory, St. Thomas Aquinas
Completed 17 of 21 passes for 232 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also adding 47 rushing yards in the 42–7 win over Columbus.
RB Walson Morin, Key West
Powered the ground game with 191 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns on 17 carries, including a 78-yard score, in the 26-21 victory over Somerset Academy–Canyons.
QB James Perrone, Miami Southridge
Went 11-of-18 passing for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns while adding 12 rushing yards to guide the Spartans’ 34–24 win over Miami Palmetto.
RB/DL Jayden Roberts, Jupiter
Rushed 17 times for 151 yards and a touchdown while also recording 2 sacks and 2 tackles for loss in a 32-21 win over Palm Beach Gardens.
QB Jayden Torres, Cardinal Gibbons
Accounted for 290 total yards with 197 passing yards and two touchdowns plus 93 rushing yards and a score in the 33–6 win over Calvary Christian (Fort Lauderdale).
RB Randolph Wilkerson Jr., Jupiter Christian
Rushed 25 times for 141 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Eagles’ 34-14 win over St. John Paul II (Boca Raton).
