Week 3 is officially in the books, and the Space & Treasure Coast Region delivered more incredible performances here in the early stages of the 2025 season. From game-changing plays to dominating stat lines, athletes all across the region made their mark on opening week.
After reviewing box scores and standout highlights, we narrowed the field down to 10 finalists for the second The Blitz – Space & Treasure Coast Football Player of the Week award. We also spotlighted a few more athletes who were strongly considered.

QB Kevin Verpaele, Merritt Island
Completed 22 of 28 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns, adding a rushing score to lead a 42–21 win over Melbourne.

QB Rico Buitrago, Holy Trinity
Completed 16 of 21 passes for 367 yards and 6 touchdowns in a 47-0 win over Port St. Lucie.
LB Caden Glover, Martin County
Made 9 tackles with 4 tackles for loss and 4 sacks in a 21-0 win over Dwyer.
QB Edrick Hall, Melbourne
Surgically efficient with 15-of-18 passing for 329 yards and three touchdowns, fueling Melbourne’s 34–16 win over University (Orange City).
ATH Xavier Lherisse, Eau Gallie
A true dual-threat spark, Lherisse rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown while also throwing for 100 yards and a score to carry Eau Gallie to a 16–12 win over Heritage.
WR Jaeden McMillan, Holy Trinity
Exploded for 7 receptions, 151 yards, and 4 touchdowns while also returning a punt 82 yards in the 47-0 win against Port St. Lucie.
QB Drew LaPlante, Fort Pierce Central
Completed 8 of 11 passes for 144 yards and 4 touchdowns in Fort Pierce Central’s 76-6 blowout win over Hollywood Hills.
RB Jeremy Pittman Jr., John Carroll
Rushed 24 times for 309 yards and 3 touchdowns while also adding a 27-yard touchdown reception in a 35-6 win over Centennial.
QB Byron Thompson, Palm Bay
Delivered balance with 158 passing yards and a touchdown while adding 85 rushing yards and a score in a 34–18 win over Cocoa Beach.
DE Brian Veal, Viera
Disrupted everything with two sacks, two tackles for loss, and four total tackles in the 40–14 win over Astronaut.
QB Efrem White, Vero Beach
Went 12-of-17 passing for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns while adding 80 yards rushing and another score in a 38-3 win over Cocoa.
