Week 3 is officially in the books, and the Tampa Bay Region delivered more incredible performances here in the early stages of the 2025 season. From game-changing plays to dominating stat lines, athletes all across the region made their mark on opening week.
After reviewing box scores and standout highlights, we narrowed the field down to 10 finalists for the second The Blitz – Tampa Bay Football Player of the Week award. We also spotlighted a few more athletes who were strongly considered.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – WEEK 2
QB Grant Cook, Keswick Christian
Was nearly unstoppable in a 35–14 win over Bishop McLaughlin, completing 16 of 21 passes for 243 yards and five touchdowns, giving him eight passing scores across the past three games.
WEEK 3 NOMINEES
QB Khayse Barrett, Clearwater Central Catholic
Went 10-of-11 passing for 294 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Marauders 49-7 victory over Tampa Catholic.
QB Rhys Brush, Armwood
Completed 7 of 11 passes for 160 yards and 1 touchdown, while also rushing 13 times for 112 yards and another touchdown in the Hawks’ 28-7 win over Tampa Bay Tech.
LB Kyhrii Everett, Zephyrhills
Racked up 20 total tackles along with four tackles for loss and three sacks in the Bulldogs’ 19-13 victory over Wiregrass Ranch.
QB Kelin Hendrix, Lakeland
Accounted for 339 total yards and 4 touchdowns, completing 11 of 20 passes for 237 yards and 2 scores while also rushing 8 times for 102 yards and 2 more touchdowns in Lakeland’s 32-13 win over Lake Mary.
QB Chance Houston, Land O’ Lakes
Threw for 224 yards on 18 of 24 passing completions for three touchdowns in the Gators’ 44-20 victory over Dunedin.
QB Ta’Vare Miller, Plant City
Went 10 of 15 passing for 159 yards and four touchdowns in the Raiders’ 42-7 thrashing of Spoto.
ATH Adarius Norton, Gaither
Made 9 tackles with 4 for loss and 3 sacks in the Cowboys’ defensive effort in a 43-7 win over Durant.
QB Levi Pavlikovic, Freedom (Tampa)
Went 11 of 16 passing for 237 yards and four touchdowns in the Patriots’ 47-7 victory over King.
DE Colton Shaw, St. Petersburg Catholic
Racked up an impressive 12 tackles, four tackles for loss and four sacks in the Barons’ 43-0 victory over Evangelical Christian.
RB AJ Truedell, Lakeland Christian
Rushed for 219 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns in the Vikings’ 24-6 victory over Fort Meade.
