GAINESVILLE, Fla. – With seven weeks of the 2019 season already in the books, the FHSAA has released its first RPI rankings for football that will determine the playoff brackets coming up in just a few weeks.
As such this update provides the entire state a glimpse of what the potential playoff matchups could be looking like in early November, but remember things change, even with four weeks to go.
In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 1A, you will find a breakdown of RPI rankings for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.
NOTE: Teams in RED have clinched their district championship

QUICK THOUGHTS: No surprise here that Baker is holding the top seed in the region at the moment. However, Freeport has been a nice surprise this year and is currently in the top half of the region along with Vernon. Some good playoff football will come from this region if things hold.

QUICK THOUGHTS: Not many surprises here except that Port St. Joe is struggling this season and is on the verge between being at home for the first round of the playoffs and being on the road. Really to be honest I feel the No. 3 to No. 6 seeds are still pretty much up in the air.
REGION 3
School | W/L | RPI | WP | OWP | OOWP |

QUICK THOUGHTS: Most are going to flip out that Madison County isn’t the No. 1 seed… JUST STOP THERE… first Madison County still got a part of the schedule with teams that will help coming up over the next couple of weeks. The other thing to keep in mind is that Rickards and Jefferson County have both struggled this season and they are not helping Madison County’s Opponents Win Percentage right this moment. I do expect things to change in the region and that none of the seeds are truly settled.
REGION 4
School | W/L | RPI | WP | OWP | OOWP |
Newberry | 6-1 | 0.625 | 0.857 | 0.464 | 0.542 |

QUICK THOUGHTS: No Pahokee here… they are the seventh team in the rankings and that is no surprise given how much they have struggled this season. Newberry has been a pleasant surprise this season so far. However, expect things to move around over the next few weeks in this region.
