MIAMI | The Varela Vipers didn’t have to look far in the stretches of Southern Miami-Dade County to find its next head coach, the Miami Herald reports.
Carlos Mollinedo, a former assistant head coach at Varela, who was part of the teams only district championship team in school history, was welcome back to the school in open arms as the next head coach.
Mollinedo who has been assistant coach for the past three year at Coral Gables under then-head coach Joe Montoya, is excited about the opportunity.
“I’m really happy to be back at a place like Varela,” Mollinedo told the Herald. Mollinendo is a graduate of Miami Coral Park and Colgate University.
Mollinedo will be bringing back Varela’s first varsity head coach, Clark Eakes, to be the offenesive coordinator for the Vipers, the report also indicated.
