CHIPLEY | After the most successful season in the history of Chipley football, head coach Rob Armstrong tendered his resignation to take the same position at Berrien County High in Georgia, the Northwest Florida Daily News reports.
Armstrong who had been at Chipley for the past three seasons, led the Tigers to the inaugural rural Class 1A State Championship game, before falling to Monticello Jefferson County in December.
With five stops with in the state of Florida including Graceville, Freeport, Walton and Marianna, plus another stop in Georgia in a 20-plus year coaching career, Armstrong said that the raise in salary was one of the biggest draws in him taking the new job.
It is also likely take up to five assistants from the current staff with him, the report indicated.
Armstrong’s last day at Chipley is Friday.
