Doug Socha Joins ESPN 760 Team, with Games at American Heritage, Glades Central, Vero Beach
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – For the third straight year, Thursday night is Football Night in South Florida. Only this year, with some added coaching experience.
ESPN 760 is proud to announce the full schedule for the 2012 season of the Football Night in South Florida program that will once again shift one high school football game each week in the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast to Thursday night.
The 2012 slate begins with a classic rivalry game: The Battle of Delray Beach, with defending state champion American Heritage hosting Atlantic on Thursday, August 30th. That game will feature the return of former Heritage coach Doug Socha – not on the sidelines, but in the broadcast booth.
The state championship coach joins the Football Night in South Florida broadcast team this year, lending his coaching expertise and unique perspective on local high school football. Socha joins veteran play-by-play broadcaster and ESPN 760 weeknight host Jeremy Marks-Peltz on all the games.
American Heritage is prominently featured on the Football Night in South Florida schedule, with Week 3’s meeting at Glades Central serving as a rematch of the Raiders’ classic 41-34 OT win a year ago. The Stallions first ever meeting with area power Dwyer (Week 11) wraps up the regular season slate.
Other featured matchups include two Treasure Coast titans, Ft. Pierce Central and Vero Beach, locking up in Week 5. Week 7’s contest between Village Academy and Glades Day features the Sunshine State’s all-time rushing leader, Kelvin Taylor.
Along with the Thursday night primetime broadcast, Football Night in South Florida also includes pre- and post-game coverage on WPTV Newschannel 5 and WFLX Fox 29, live from the game site; promotional street teams on-site at each home stadium; a live video webcast of each game, courtesy of IHigh.com, to be housed on ESPN760.com; and exclusive web and social media content from the game site on ESPN760.com/highschool and through the ESPN 760 High School Twitter account, @Hysteria760.
