St. Thomas Aquinas (3-1) at Miramar (2-3)
After reeling off what I refer to as a bizarre loss to Cypress Bay last week, the Patriots are stuck to rebound against a nationally elite program that still remembers last year’s game between the two schools. Nick Jeanty, Alex Lee and Sean Avant may be able to help the team move the ball and keep the score fairly close in the first half, but this is not the same Miramar team that won at St. Thomas in overtime last year. Look for John O’Korn and Fred Coppet, with the advanced OL to wear Miramar down in the 2nd half, leaving Jermaine Grace and the rest of the Miramar defense with no answers.

Plantation American Heritage (3-1) at Hallandale (2-2)
In last year’s game District 15-5A matchup, Heritage outlasted Hallandale 35-29 by taking the opening lead without looking back and the Chargers were not able to capitalize on early opportunities. Other than a close loss to state powerhouse, Jacksonville Bolles this year, the Patriots have shown dominance in every contest. With a profilic passing attack led by Tyler Cogswell, who passes for over 200 yards per game and an elite rushing attack led by Sony Michel, averaging 12 yards per carry, Heritage will score a lot of points in this game. While Hallandale dealt with Alex Collins of South Plantation at times this year (link my article), the Patriots are too balanced with too many weapons.

Dr. Krop (3-2) vs. North Miami Beach (2-2)
As an alum of North Miami Beach, I felt that it was important to view one of their games. This is a rivalry game. The boundaries and blurred and with the possible revival of Hialeah, the winner of this District 13-8A contest probably makes the playoffs and the loser stays home. Dr. Krop has shown to be a slow starting team but scores an average of 17 points more per game than the Chargers. I expect lots of penalties but look for Dr. Krop to find a way to stop Steve Ishmael and Duanne Jones if North Miami Beach is forced to play “catch up” in the second half. Even though veteran Coach Jeff Bertani will find a way to maximize his talent, the Lightning will be too productive on the offensive side of the ball.

Chaminade-Madonna (4-0) at Davie University School (4-0)
In this District 8-3A Clash of unbeaten, many should look forward to this treat. At Quarterback, Sean White has been outstanding this year in leading the Lions balanced attack which is a signature trait for most Chaminade teams. Cavin Ridley has helped lead a rushing attack which usually sits after three quarters in a game after building insurmountable leads. Unfortunately, for Chaminade, they will have to face what many think is the best Broward high school team, University School. U-School, after dominating Cocoa Beach 49-3 last week, has not missed a step this year. Michael White has led an offensive with the help of Jordan Scarlett at running back and Jordan Cunningham, Emanuel Soto and Dionte Taylor at wide receiver. The Suns should finish this game in style but expect a close game for three quarters.
