DISTRICT OUTLOOK
Who’s In:
1. Northview – The Chiefs are coming off their best season in school history that was capped off by winning the Class 1A state championship over Trenton. There is some talent back again this year including Neino Robinson who is one of the top defensive playmakers for the squad. Expect Northview to be in the thick of state championship talk once again this season.
Fighting It Out:
2. Freeport – The Bulldogs return 10 starters overall and have talented QB Gabe Moore back for his senior year. Moore was instruemental for the team last season and threw over 1,500 yards and had over 500 additional yards through the ground game. While the team will once again be small in size and depth, do not underestimate what Jim Anderson’s squad can be able to do on the field.
3. Jay – The Royals are looking this season as the one to make the playoffs and could challenge Freeport easily as they will have some returning talent that should be able to keep things closer for them. With quite a bit of the skill position players back that older and more mature, this could be the key point that gets the Royals in playoff contention.
Got Work To Do:
4. Baker – Baker has been looking to be a playoff contender under Matt Bruson and was close last year to making it happen, but with a lack of talent and depth this season, likely could have the Gators taking a step back. Certainly is down times for a program that boost multiple state championship trophies in the trophy case.
