– Matanzas Defense, Matanzas – Coach Robert Ripley nominated his entire defensive unit after Matanzas finally claimed their first victory in school history over rival Flagler Palm Coast.

– Robert Ripley, Matanzas – The gap has closed between Matanzas and Flagler Palm Coast and the guy that has been the leader of it all get the honors after leading the Pirates to the first win over their rival in Week 1.
OTHER PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINATIONS
– RB D.J. Hampton, Sanford Seminole – The junior running back was a key part to Seminole’s 32-14 win over Olympia that included 336 total all-purpose yards and two total touchdowns.
– RB Cornelius “Poochie” Pitts, Orange City University – Had 155 rushing yards and one touchdown on a 66-yard touchdown run in University’s 30-20 win over Deltona.
– RB Marcell Mitchell, Winter Springs – Rushed 23 times for 121 yards and a touchdown in Winter Springs’ 23-7 win over Orlando Freedom.
– RB Tim Marinan, Lake Brantley – Rushed the ball 21 times for 154 yards rushing and one touchdown in Lake Brantley’s 38-26 win over Boone.
– RB Trace Christian, Lake Brantley – 90 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns in Lake Brantley’s 38-26 win over Boone.
– QB Denzel Houston, Mainland – 17 of 27 passing for 204 yards and 4 touchdowns in Mainland’s 41-21 win over rival DeLand.
– CB Brian Jenkins, Spruce Creek – Returned one interception and blocked punt he also returned for a touchdown in Spruce Creek’s 31-0 shutout over Seabreeze.
– RB Jaquavis Willams, Pierson Taylor – Rushed 15 times for 158 yards rushing and one touchdown in Taylor’s 30-8 win over Halifax Academy.
– RB Daniel Dillard, Matanzas – Scored the game winning touchdown and had 17 carries for 87 yards in Matanzas 14-7 win over Flagler Palm Coast.
