Singing the Blues
A lot was expected from Madison County this season with the move down to Class 1A, so far the season hasn’t gone as expected.
Through three games, the Cowboys are 0-3 and have been outscored 84-14; granted the losses are to teams combined 6-3 and all in higher classifications.
Playing higher class teams hasn’t been a problem before in the past some of the biggest wins in school history have come over Lincoln, Wakulla, Godby, etc..
So what is going on at Madison County ?
Righting the ship
I posted the question on twitter last week when Lincoln dropped its third straight game to start the season, had Lincoln and head coach Yusuf Shakir bitten off more than it could chew.
Shakir scheduled trips to Camden County and Niceville and hosted Columbia in its home opener, the result was a 0-3 start and getting outscored 97-41.
Lincoln traveled to Manatee Friday night and was staring down a potential 0-4 start but a funny thing happened Lincoln pulled it together and upset host Manatee 24-21 to get its first win of the season.
Is this the spark Lincoln needed to right the ship and begin a long win streak and make another long playoff run?
One thing for sure is if Lincoln is able to make the playoffs they will have been battle tested with games against Camden County (4-0), Niceville (2-1), Columbia (3-0) and Manatee (1-2) to go along with future games against Rickards (3-0), Chiles (2-1), Leon (2-1), Trinity Christian (3-0), Orange City University (3-0) and Godby (1-2).

Top Games
No. 1 Rickards (3-0) at Bentonville, Arkansas (2-0): Rickards is coming off back-to-back nail biting wins over Chiles and Choctaw, how will they handle making the schools likely first out of state trip. Bentonville has feasted on out of state teams beating Rockhurst, Missouri (24-13) and Valor Christian, Colorado (41-22) and likely won’t be intimated against another one.
Leon (2-1) at Godby (1-2): Wins over Suwannee and Mosley have people paying attention to Leon once again. If not for a two point loss to Rickards the Lions would be undefeated. The record may fool surprise many but don’t count out Godby yet, who has dropped games to Tucker, Ga and Niceville.
