In a stunning turn of events for one of Duval County’s oldest football programs, Fletcher High School dismissed Ricky Medlock after just one season.
Justin Barney at The Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville reported that Medlock was dismissed after Fletcher went 5-5 during the 2015 season and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
Fletcher has parted ways with HSFB coach Ricky Medlock after 1 season, per AD Joe Reynolds. He was 5-5 last season.

Medlock, who was previously an assistant under previous head coaches of Josh Corey and Joe Reynolds, was apparently caught off guard about his dismissal, telling The Florida Times-Union he was surprised by the decision which he was told about on Friday.
The Fletcher position was his second head coaching job, having served as the head coach at Mandarin during the early 1990’s.
The report also indicated that Fletcher could likely name an interim head coach, but it could take months before a new head coach is named.
