GAINESVILLE – This summer FloridaHSFootball.com / Florida High School Football will be taking on a new approach with previews for the 2016 season with selected team previews, featured stories, district projections, rankings, preseason all-state elite teams and the inaugural FloridaHSFootball.com Helmet Challenge!
The team previews will feature 125 teams from all eight classifications as well as hand selected independent teams from each of the five independent football conferences around the state. Most of the teams featured will be in consideration for a preseason ranking in their respective classification. Coaches of the teams selected – which will be released in the near future – will be asked to fill out a questionnaire about their team.
We will also provide feature stories on different topics. Some of the topics will include rivalries, a look at the return of Wildwood football and Independent conference realignment, storylines for each classification, top games for classification and more.
District projections will provide projections for all 96 districts across the state which will also project which teams will reach the 2016 “Drive To December” brackets in all eight classifications.
As of right now we are still in the process of determining the format for our classification rankings, which will be announced later this summer. We do anticipate the release of preseason rankings before the start of the season.
Preseason All-State Elite Teams will feature players that are coming back that should make a significant impact or have had made a significant impact for their team from last season. Recruiting rankings are not considered for placement, but feedback from coaches as well as information collected by our team will help determine the teams.
And last, but not least, we plan to launch the Inaugural FloridaHSFootball.com Helmet Challenge featuring two brackets consisting of one bracket for large schools and one bracket for small schools. All eight state champions as well as conference champions from the five independent conferences will automatically be placed on the bracket, while other teams that are hand picked by the FloridaHSFootball.com team will be selected to the bracket. Winners of both brackets will be State Champions of the Helmet Challenge the entire year.
Stay tuned to FloridaHSFootball.com as we will soon release to official start date of all of the previews for the 2016 season!
