Although the majority of the teams have yet to open the regular season, other states have already opened things up and as such, there are already changes being made in the national rankings.
USA TODAY SUPER 25 – EXPERT RANKINGS
Our partners at USA TODAY High School Sports still has St. Thomas Aquinas ranked No. 1 in the Super 25 Expert rankings after the Raiders pitched a 51-0 shutout on Dillard in the preseason kickoff classic last week.
However, things for Plantation American Heritage didn’t go so well and the Patriots were quickly exited out of the Super 25 as now-No. 6 Booker T. Washington saw its defense put the brakes on American Heritage for a 20-7 win. The Tornadoes host St. Thoams Aquinas on Friday night in at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami.
IMG Academy is the only other Florida school ranked, holding steady at No. 4 where it started at for the Preseason. The Ascenders defeated Miami Carol City 17-7 in their preseason kickoff classic.
USA TODAY SUPER 25 – COMPUTER RANKINGS
The USA TODAY Super 25 Computer rankings are not doing much of any favors for the Florida teams as the only team still to be ranked by the computer is IMG Academy which is ranked No. 14.
The next closest team to cracking the Top 25 is Miami Central which is ranked No. 27 currently.
MAXPREPS – XCELLENT 25
St. Thomas Aquinas holds on to the top spot in MaxPreps Xcellent 25 rankings where it started the season at. As previously mention, they will host Booker T. Washington this week which checks in at No. 19 on the Xcellent 25 after starting the season unranked.
IMG Academy is holding steady at No. 4 – the same position the started the season at.
Miami Central is ranked No. 16, which is where they started the season at and will trek up Florida’s Turnpike on Friday to take on Clermont East Ridge.
Plantation American Heritage which was ranked by MaxPreps to start the season was knocked out but is on the bubble to get back in – that is if they defeat Colquitt County, Georgia on the road this week.
MAXPREPS – FREEMAN RANKINGS
IMG currently holds the No. 1 spot in MaxPreps Freeman Computer rankings heading into Week 1 of the regular season.
Jacksonville Trinity Christian and St. Thomas Aquinas swapped spaces this week after the Conquerors started off at No. 4 while the Raiders were No. 3
Plantation American Heritage dropped one spot from No. 6 to No. 7 while Booker T. Washington jumped up one spot from No. 20 to No. 19.
Miami Central was the lone new Florida team to enter the Top 25 moving into the No. 25 spot.
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL AMERICA
The High School Football America rankings saw no changes as it is waiting for the rest of the state kick off high school football this week.
IMG Academy is ranked No. 2 with St. Thomas Aquinas at No. 7, Miami Central No. 12 and Jacksonville Trinity Christian at No. 25.
