GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After eight weeks of football, the FHSAA has once again updated the playoff point averages for all teams in all classifications.
Once again, some big changes have taken place across the board this week as some teams have entered the projected playoff picture while others have fallen out. In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 1A, you will find a breakdown of point averages for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.
NOTE: Hurricane Michael has had an impact on teams in Regions 1 and 2 in Class 1A. As for now, the teams are all still playoff eligible, even if they miss games currently as plans are put into place to get teams back on the field, when safe to do so.

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
BYES: No 1. Baker, No 2. Vernon
No. 5 Graceville at No. 4 Northview
No. 6. Bozeman at No. 3 Jay
QUICK THOUGHTS: With a lot of teams missing games this past week, most teams are still pretty much near what they were last week. However, with Northview playing it did affect some averages here. Vernon has shifted up to being the No. 2 seed after being No. 4 last week while Jay and Northview slide down to the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds with Bozeman sliding into the No. 6 seed over Holmes County.

BYES: No. 1 Jefferson County, No. 2 Sneads
No. 5 Wewahitchka at No. 4 Port St. Joe
No. 6 Cottondale at No. 3 Blountstown
QUICK THOUGHTS: None of the teams in this region played last week but point averages did get affected some as Jefferson County saw changes that boosted them up to the No. 1 seed while Sneads moved up to the No. 2 seed and Blountstown falling to the No. 3 seed. Several of the teams in this region are might play this week, but it remains to be seen who and how the rest of the season plays out as a lot of the teams were greatly impacted by Hurricane Michael.
REGION 3

Branford | 4-3 | 33.29 |
PROJECTED SEEDS

No. 2 Dixie County
No. 3 Chiefland

No. 6 Union County
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL MATCHUPS
BYES: No. 1 Madison County, No. 2 Dixie County
No. 5 Bell at No. 4 Lafayette
No. 6 Union County at No. 3 Chiefland
QUICK THOUGHTS: Madison County had a bye week last week, but still is on top of the region standings. Really the only big change here this week is Dixie County and Chiefland swapping seeds after Chiefland took a tumble last week at Hawthorne. Some will say that Chiefland should be ahead of Dixie County due to head to head, but that is not how this works. The question will be to see if a team like Branford can make a late push here to get enough points with some help to break into the playoffs.
REGION 4
Team | Record | Avg |
Pahokee | 5-2 | 41.14 |
Hawthorne | 6-0 | 40.00 |
Frostproof | 5-3 | 36.50 |
Crescent City | 6-2 | 36.38 |
Fort Meade | 4-3 | 36.29 |
Williston | 2-5 | 33.71 |
Wildwood | 4-4 | 33.50 |
Bronson | 0-7 | 26.86 |
PROJECTED SEEDS
No. 1 Pahokee
No. 2 Hawthorne
No. 3 Frostproof
No. 4 Crescent City
No. 5 Fort Meade
No. 6 Williston
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL MATCHUPS
BYES: No. 1 Pahokee, No. 2 Hawthorne
No. 5 Fort Meade at No. 4 Crescent City
No. 6 Williston at No. 3 Frostproof
QUICK THOUGHTS: After Hawthorne’s big win last week against Chiefland, they are creeping up on Pahokee for the No. 1 overall seed, but the Hornets’ remaining schedule looks iffy as Pahokee plays a much tougher schedule with the final three weeks remaining in the regular season. Crescent City and Fort Meade swap seeds this week while Williston moves back into No. 6 after Wildwood fell to Keystone Heights last week.
