GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After eight weeks of football, the FHSAA has once again updated the playoff point averages for all teams in all classifications.
Once again, some big changes have taken place across the board this week as some teams have entered the projected playoff picture while others have fallen out. In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 5A, you will find a breakdown of point averages for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.
NOTE: Teams in RED have clinched their district championship

QUICK THOUGHTS: Nothing changes here this week in terms of seeding or the teams that would be in the playoffs right now. Godby, however, did clinch their district championship so they are now officially guaranteed a top-four seed regardless of where they stand in the final points after Week 11. The biggest question remains with District 5A-1. If Mosley, who will get to play Saturday, wins against Pensacola, they will clinch their district with a win. Trinity Christian should be able to clinch their district with a win while Ribault would have to wait to see how other games unfold in their district and might not be able to outright clinch until next week.

The second tiebreaker comes down to Immokalee and Jefferson. Immokalee wins this tiebreaker with more CAT 3 wins over Jefferson (1-0).
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 8 Immokalee at No. 1 Hardee
No. 5 Booker at No. 4 Dunbar
No. 6 DeSoto County at No. 3 Tarpon Springs
No. 7 Lakewood at No. 2 Jesuit
QUICK THOUGHTS: This region is just a downright mess… Let me say this – most of these teams should not even be considered for the playoffs. Let’s start with the good: First, this is Hardee or Jesuit’s region to win outright. No one else’s. The bad… Gibbs is going be a 2-8 or 3-7 district champion after they surprisingly beat Lakewood last week. Does this tell you anything about this region? From there it is just a mess trying to figure things out. Jesuit and Gibbs have their district titles in hand. Hardee could clinch their title as early as this week if DeSoto County drops one more district game, putting the rivalry game as almost meaningless next week. For Dunbar, a win this week will clinch their district as well.

No. 6 Space Coast at No. 3 Cardinal Gibbons
No. 7 Bishop Moore at No. 2 Jones
QUICK THOUGHTS: No changes in the top two seeds, but No. 3 comes Cardinal Gibbons who got a big win over Plantation American Heritage last week. They can wrap up the district championship this week with a win over Hallandale. Fort Pierce Westwood has already clinched their district championship, so they are guaranteed to be locked into at the No. 4 seed despite their average being lower than a majority of the region. Coconut Creek falls out of the seeding mix while Bishop Moore jumps in to take the No. 7 seed right now. Rockledge and Jones can wrap up their districts this week with wins.
