GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After eight weeks of football, the FHSAA has once again updated the playoff point averages for all teams in all classifications.
Once again, some big changes have taken place across the board this week as some teams have entered the projected playoff picture while others have fallen out. In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 6A, you will find a breakdown of point averages for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.
NOTE: Teams in RED have clinched their district championship

QUICK THOUGHTS: Not much change in the region this week with Niceville and Pine Forest trading spots for the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds. No one in this region can clinch a district championship this week except St. Augustine if they get a win over Nease and Ed White defeats Middleburg on Monday in a makeup game from Week 6.

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 8 Hillsborough at No. 1 Armwood
No. 5 Gainesville at No. 4 Sebring
No. 6 South Lake at No. 3 Mitchell
No. 7 Chamberlain at No. 2 Vanguard
QUICK THOUGHTS: Armwood, Vanguard and Mitchell are holding down their respective seeds this week while Sebring has made strides and would be the de facto district champion if the playoffs started this week. However, things will be settled this week on the field for Sebring and Lake Wales. If Lake Wales wins, they will claim their district championship outright. Armwood can claim their district if they win this week and Hillsborough falls to King, while Mitchell will have to wait until next week to claim their district. For Vanguard a win over Lake Weir will give them their district championship. For now, Chamberlain and Hillsborough are in the mix for playoff seeds, but outside of Gainesville at No. 5, the 6-8 seeds are pretty much toss-ups right now.

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 8 Largo at No. 1 Charlotte
No. 5 Lehigh at No. 4 Clearwater
No. 6 North Fort Myers at No. 3 Barron Collier
No. 7 Naples at No. 2 Fort Myers
QUICK THOUGHTS: Fort Myers is the only teams so far to have clinched their district, but Charlotte can join that list this week by just simply beating Cape Coral. Barron Collier and Naples will face off next week to decide District 6A-12 while 6A-9 could be for Boca Ciega’s taking if they beat Clearwater this week otherwise it could be for Clearwater’s taking the following week when the play Largo. Naples jumps back into the seeding mix this week after Cape Coral lost to Island Coast unexpectedly and at this point, I don’t see them going anywhere out of this mix along with teams like North Fort Myers and Lehigh.

No. 6 Miami Northwestern at No. 3 Mainland
No. 7 New Smyrna Beach at No. 2 Heritage (Palm Bay)
QUICK THOUGHTS: The only team so far to have clinched their district championship has been Dillard, but New Smyrna Beach or Mainland and Palm Bay Heritage could join the list this week with a simple win. Miami Carol City will have to wait a tad bit longer until they play Miami Central next week. Looking at the rest of the field, New Smyrna Beach moves up to the No. 7 seed while Miami Norland would be the No. 8 seed after Jensen Beach tumbled out of the No. 7 spot due to a big loss at Eau Gallie.
