GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After eight weeks of football, the FHSAA has once again updated the playoff point averages for all teams in all classifications.
Once again, some big changes have taken place across the board this week as some teams have entered the projected playoff picture while others have fallen out. In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 7A, you will find a breakdown of point averages for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.
NOTE: Teams in RED have clinched their district championship

No. 6 Oakleaf at No. 3 Lincoln
No. 7 First Coast at No. 2 Buchholz
QUICK THOUGHTS: So far only Lincoln has clinched their district and will be guaranteed a top-four seed in the playoffs. However, Columbia and Edgewater could join the ranks this week with guaranteed spots while Buchholz still has to deal challengers in Oakleaf and Bartram Trail in their district to decide things. Right now is interesting seeing First Coast take over the No. 7 while Bartram Trail falls out of the top eight, but after this week, expect this list to change once again.

QUICK THOUGHTS: No shifts currently in the top four, but Viera and Harmony are considered locks for the playoffs having won their respective district championships. However, both teams could flip-flop spots until the final points are made final on Selection Sunday. Plant will have to wait until next week likely to claim their district championship unless Wiregrass Ranch were to lose to Leto and Lakeland would clinch next week with a win over Kathleen. Winter Haven is still in it for now, but another loss could put them out of it especially with Kathleen and Gaither knocking on the door.

No. 8 Gulf Coast at No. 1 Venice
No. 5 Braden River at No. 4 Riverdale
No. 6 Tampa Bay Tech at No. 3 Bloomingdale
No. 7 Plant City at No. 2 Pinellas Park
QUICK THOUGHTS: With Pinellas Park and Riverdale having clinched district championships last week, Venice could join the fold this week with a win over Sarasota with a Palmetto loss to North Port while Bloomingdale could join the fold by simply beating Plant City this week. Tampa Bay Tech falls this week into the No. 6 seed after losing to Bloomingdale last week while Gulf Coast has a shot to be in it at the moment as they push St. Petersburg out through a tiebreaker.

No. 7 Mater Academy at No. 2 Dwyer
QUICK THOUGHTS: It is still pretty much a lock that St. Thomas Aquinas and Dwyer are locks for the top two seeds baring any major breakdowns the last few weeks here. The only team here at this point that has locked down a district championship is Doral Academy, while Dwyer can officially lock their district down with a win this week as well as McArthur. St. Thomas Aquinas can claim their district with a win next week. None of the remaining seeds change in terms of the teams except Fort Lauderdale rises up to No. 6 from No. 8 while Palm Beach Lakes falls from No. 6 to No. 8. However, Forest Hill, West Broward and South Miami are all still in the mix for a spot right now.
