Skinny: American Heritage got things going last week with a 7-3 win over defending Class 3A State Champion Chaminade-Madonna last week thanks to a strong performance from the defense including defensive back James Williams (2021) who had two sacks and eight tackles in his debut for the Patriots while Daemon Fagan (2023), another defensive back, had a game-sealing interception and kept Chaminade-Madonna running back Thaddius Franklin Jr. from scoring last week. For the host Tornadoes they got a big 20-7 win over rival Largo last week for their first win of the season. That was the first win for the Tornadoes over Largo going back to 2016. Quarterback Kamrhen Simpkins (2021) had 200-plus yards of offense and two total touchdowns in the game last week.
