District Tournaments start Monday across this state this week in Girls Flag Football and we look at each of the four regions across the two FHSAA classifications in Girls Flag Football to give you some of our thoughts with the expanded district tournaments.

DISTRICT 1A-13

TEAMS: Hollywood Hills, Pembroke Pines Charter, Pembroke Pines Somerset Academy, Southwest Ranches Archbishop McCarthy

GLANCE: What was once going to have at least six to seven teams in the district bracket has been reduced to four teams as some teams have opted out. At this point, there is a clear three-race in our view between Somerset Academy, Pines Charter, and Hollywood Hills that could make things remarkably interesting. If anything, any one of the three teams will have earned the right to represent the district in the regional playoffs as district champions.

DISTRICT 1A-14

TEAMS: Miami Carol City, Miami Mater Lakes, Miami Norland, Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace, North Miami Mourning, North Miami Beach

GLANCE: The best team in this district is the No. 2 team in Class 1A, Monsignor Pace. As it stands at this point usually Carol City or Norland would be the two teams that could pose a threat in most years to Monsignor Pace winning the district championship. This year has been a different story with everything still going on due to COVID-19.

DISTRICT 1A-15

TEAMS: Miami Central, Miami Edison, Miami Jackson, Miami Northwestern

GLANCE: Miami Edison is clear-cut the best team in this district, but everyone else has shown flashes that they can be competitive. However, with games being extremely limited to Miami-Dade this year in terms of schedule for most teams due to COVID-19, it is hard to gauge just how good these teams could be in this district, especially if you do not know much about their prior history up to this point.

DISTRICT 1A-16

TEAMS: Homestead Keys Gate Charter, Miami Killian, Miami Southridge, Miami TERRA Institute, Somerset Silver Palms, Somerset South Homestead, South Miami

GLANCE: There is not a whole known about this district other than Somerset Silver Palms is undefeated and the No. 1 seed in this district. Like most South Florida districts, schedules have been limited this year, and travel restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

PROJECTED DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

1A-13: Pembroke Pines Somerset Academy
1A-14: Monsignor Pace
1A-15: Miami Edison
1A-16: Somerset Silver Palms
