While some teams have already claimed a district championship, more teams were added to the list last week of teams in Class 5A through Class 8A and locked up playoff spots for next month. A few more will join the ranks this week Here is a look at where things stand right now in Class 5A as we head into Week 9.

Records show are district standings only, not overall records.

DISTRICT 5A-1

Wakulla, 3-0 – CLINCHED
West Florida, 3-1
Pensacola, 1-2
Godby, 1-2
Arnold, 0-3

OUTLOOK: Wakulla clinched the district championship last week over Arnold thus clinching a playoff berth as well.

DISTRICT 5A-2

Baker County, 3-0 – CLINCHED
Ed White, 3-1
Bishop Kenny, 1-2
Suwannee, 1-2
Paxon, 0-3

OUTLOOK: With Baker County’s win over Ed White and Bishop Kenny’s win over Suwannee last week gave the Wildcats the district championship and clinching a playoff berth.

DISTRICT 5A-3

Raines, 2-0 – CLINCHED
Terry Parker, 2-1
Yulee, 1-2
Ribault, 0-2

OUTLOOK: With Raines having already beat Terry Parker and Yulee, the Vikings have already clinched the District 5A-3 championship regardless of the outcome against neighborhood and district rival Ribault this weekend.

DISTRICT 5A-4

Clay, 3-0
North Marion, 3-0
Menendez, 1-2
Eastside, 1-3
Palatka, 0-4

OUTLOOK: This week the goal is pretty much simple for either visiting Clay or host North Marion – win the game and you are in the playoffs as a district champion.

DISTRICT 5A-5

Dunnellon, 3-0
Citrus, 2-1
Leesburg, 2-1
Crystal River, 1-2
Lake Weir, 0-4

OUTLOOK: The goal is very simple this week for Dunnellon, beat Citrus and take home the district championship with clinching a playoff berth. However, if Citrus were to find a way to stun Dunnellon, they would need Leesburg to defeat Crystal River to force a three-way tie, or they could outright win the district with an upset over Dunnellon and a Crystal River win over Leesburg.

DISTRICT 5A-6

Tavares, 3-0 – CLINCHED
Eustis, 2-1
Mount Dora, 2-1
Horizon, 1-2
Lake Buena Vista, 0-4

OUTLOOK: With Tavares crushing win over Eustis last week, the Bulldogs clinched the district championship and a playoff berth.

DISTRICT 5A-7

Seabreeze, 3-0 – CLINCHED
Deltona, 2-1
Bishop Moore, 2-1
Atlantic (Port Orange), 1-2
Pine Ridge, 0-4

OUTLOOK: Seabreeze clinched the district last week with their win over Pine Ridge and Bishop Moore took care of business against Atlantic, sending the Sandcrabs to the playoffs with their first district championship in over a decade.

DISTRICT 5A-8

Merritt Island, 4-0
Rockledge, 3-1
Satellite, 3-1
Palm Bay, 1-3
Bayside, 0-4
Titusville, 0-4

OUTLOOK: With Merritt Island defeating Rockledge last week, now things are on Satellite to force chaos in the district if they upset Merritt Island. However, if Merritt Island gets the win, the Mustangs will be in the playoffs as district champions which would make Rockledge and Satellite wait to see if they get at-large berths to the playoffs.

DISTRICT 5A-9

Zephyrhills, 4-0 – CLINCHED
Wesley Chapel, 3-1
Hudson, 2-2
Nature Coast, 2-2
Cypress Creek (Wesley Chapel), 1-3
Weeki Wachee, 0-4

OUTLOOK: Zephyrhills took care of business last week against Nature Coast, shutting out the Sharks, and thanks to Wesley Chapel’s win over Hudson, the Bulldogs are heading to the playoffs with clinching the district championship.

DISTRICT 5A-10

Clearwater, 4-0 – CLINCHED
Gibbs, 3-1
Tarpon Springs, 2-2
Dunedin, 2-2
Gulf, 1-3
Anclote, 0-4

OUTLOOK: Clearwater simply did what it had to last week and that was taken care of business against Tarpon Springs to clinch the district championship and a playoff berth.

DISTRICT 5A-11

Middleton, 1-0
Chamberlain, 1-0
Robinson, 0-2

OUTLOOK: Middleton and Chamberlain will decide who will win this district this week when Chamberlain travels over to Middleton.

DISTRICT 5A-12

Sebring, 2-0
Port Charlotte, 2-0
Hardee, 0-2
Booker, 0-2

OUTLOOK: Sebring and Port Charlotte took care of business last week to setup this week’s district championship showdown. The goal is simple for either one of them – win and you are in the playoffs as a district champion.

DISTRICT 5A-13

Estero, 4-0 – CLINCHED
Cypress Lake, 3-1
Mariner, 2-2
Bonita Springs, 2-2
Island Coast, 1-3
LaBelle, 0-4

OUTLOOK: Estero took care of business last week, clinching a district championship and playoff berth with their win over Island Coast.

DISTRICT 5A-14

Stranahan, 2-0
American Heritage (Plantation), 2-0
Boynton Beach, 1-2
Jensen Beach, 0-3

OUTLOOK: American Heritage smashed Boynton Beach last week thus setting up this week’s district championship matchup with Stranahan. Goal is simple for either team, win and you are in the playoffs.

DISTRICT 5A-15

Miami Central, 3-0 – CLINCHED
North Miami Beach, 2-1
Miami Springs, 1-2
Hialeah-Miami Lakes, 0-3

OUTLOOK: Miami Central easily handled things with North Miami Beach, putting the Rockets in the playoffs as district champions.

DISTRICT 5A-16

Miami Killian, 3-0 – CLINCHED
Key West, 2-1
Miami Jackson, 1-2
St. Brendan, 0-3

OUTLOOK: Miami Killian has already clinched the District 5A-16 championship as all district games have been completed.
