10 weeks are in the books for the 2021 Florida high school football season and the FHSAA has released their latest look at the RPI football playoff rankings as we head into the final week of the regular season. As such this is going to be our last RPI breakdown for the 2021 season.

As such, this update provides the entire state a glimpse of what the potential playoff matchups could be looking like come the second week of November, but remember things change, as we still have three weeks worth of games (including this week) to go, however, the playoff picture has become much clearer with some teams already done for the regular season and other teams having one game remaining.

In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.

For Class 7A, you will find a breakdown of RPI rankings for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.

REGION 1

Rank Team Record RPI
1 Buchholz 8-1 0.679
2 Spruce Creek 8-1 0.665
3 Niceville 9-1 0.646
4 University (Orange City) 6-1 0.613
5 Nease 6-3 0.559
6 Atlantic Coast 5-4 0.540
7 Navarre 5-3 0.530
8 Crestview 6-4 0.522
9 Fleming Island 5-4 0.515
10 Chiles 4-5 0.512
11 Fletcher 5-4 0.509
12 Ponte Vedra 4-5 0.507
13 Pace 3-6 0.474
14 Forest 3-6 0.474
15 Lyman 2-7 0.422
16 Tate 1-8 0.373
17 Leon 1-7 0.370
18 Winter Springs 1-7 0.361
19 First Coast 0-9 0.358
20 Lake Howell 1-8 0.326

PROJECTED DISTRICT CHAMPS
This is based on current district standings and taking the highest-rated team among the district standings if they have won district games. Should a district not have any district games played as of yet, the highest-rated team will be mythically slotted in as a district champion for projection purposes only. Teams highlighted in red have officially clinched their district championship.

7A-1: Niceville – No. 3
7A-2: Buchholz – No. 1
7A-3: Fletcher – No. 4
7A-4: Spruce Creek – No. 2

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

No. 8 Navarre vs. No. 1 Buchholz
No. 5 University vs. No. 4 Fletcher
No. 6 Nease vs. No. 3 Niceville
No. 7 Atlantic Coast vs. No. 2 Spruce Creek

QUICK THOUGHTS: Buchholz has opened a big lead now for the No. 1 seed in the region and likely has that locked in place with Spruce Creek behind them still at No. 2. As such no changes were made in the top four seeds. However, some changes in the at-large berths did take place with Nease moving up from No. 8 to No. 6 while Navarre gets the No. 8 seed after getting a win over Crestview, bumping the Bulldogs on the outside looking in.

REGION 2

Rank Team Record RPI
1 Edgewater 8-1 0.680
2 Lakeland 8-1 0.677
3 Martin County 7-0 0.659
4 Seminole Ridge 8-1 0.626
5 Melbourne 7-2 0.624
6 Viera 5-3 0.611
7 Lake Gibson 6-3 0.605
8 Bartow 5-4 0.565
9 Dwyer 4-5 0.528
10 Harmony 5-4 0.506
11 Ridge Community 4-5 0.488
12 Kathleen 2-7 0.481
13 Wekiva 4-5 0.479
14 East River 3-6 0.473
15 Sebastian River 2-5 0.468
16 St. Cloud 3-6 0.442
17 George Jenkins 3-6 0.430
18 Winter Haven 1-9 0.398
19 Fort Pierce Westwood 0-8 0.355
20 East Ridge 0-9 0.349

PROJECTED DISTRICT CHAMPS
This is based on current district standings and taking the highest-rated team among the district standings if they have won district games. Should a district not have any district games played as of yet, the highest-rated team will be mythically slotted in as a district champion for projection purposes only. Teams highlighted in red have officially clinched their district championship.

7A-5: Lake Gibson – No. 4
7A-6: Edgewater – No.1
7A-7: Melbourne – No. 3
7A-8: Martin County – No. 2

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

No. 8 Bartow vs. No. 1 Martin County
No. 5 Lakeland vs. No. 4 Lake Gibson
No. 6 Seminole Ridge vs. No. 3 Melbourne
No. 7 Viera vs. No. 2 Edgewater

QUICK THOUGHTS: Some big changes happened in the region this past week with Edgewater rolling back into the No. 1 seed with Martin County sliding to the No. 2 seed. However, Melbourne taking the win over Viera now has them going from No. 7 to No. 3 as the district champion. With that Viera now falls to the No. 7 seed with no other changes with the at-large berths, and Bartow might appear to be comfortable at No. 8 with Dwyer quite aways behind them in the No. 9 spot.

REGION 3

Rank Team Record RPI
1 Tampa Bay Tech 9-0 0.775
2 Armwood 7-2 0.672
3 Lehigh 6-1 0.643
4 Wiregrass Ranch 5-4 0.622
5 Wharton 6-2 0.613
6 Mitchell 7-2 0.595
7 Palmetto 4-4 0.566
8 Largo 5-4 0.563
9 Gaither 5-5 0.549
10 Bloomingdale 4-5 0.526

17 North Port 2-7 0.407
18 Lennard 2-7 0.402
19 Leto 1-6 0.323

Should a district not have any district games played as of yet, the highest-rated team will be mythically slotted in as a district champion for projection purposes only. 7A-9: Mitchell – No. 3
7A-10: Tampa Bay Tech – No. 1
7A-11: Palmetto- No. 4
7A-12: Lehigh – No. 2

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

No. 8 Largo vs. No. 1 Tampa Bay Tech
No. 5 Armwood vs. No. 4 Palmetto
No. 6 Wiregrass Ranch vs. No. 3 Mitchell
No. 7 Wharton vs. No. 2 Lehigh

QUICK THOUGHTS: As such, District 7A-9 is in a three-way tie with Mitchell, Largo, and Gaither. However, Mitchell continues to lead the teams and is likely to win the tie-breaker come Sunday when the brackets are released. There was no change to the top four in the region, however,  Wiregrass Ranch and Wharton have traded the No. 6 and No. 7 spots while Largo continues to hold the No. 8 seed which keeps Gaither at No. 9.

No. 5 Doral Academy vs. No. 4 Miramar
No. 6 Dillard vs. No. 3 Fort Lauderdale
No. 7 South Broward vs. No. 2 Homestead

QUICK THOUGHTS: With Fort Lauderdale winning District 7A-13, they have moved up from the No. 4 to the No. 3 seed with Miramar falling to the No. 4 seed this week. No other changes took place in the projected pairing for Region 4.
