Here are FloridaHSFootball.com’s Class 6A Rankings after Week 3. Ranking, team name, record and previous rank included for each team.
Below the Top 10 are the regional rankings for Class 6A, showing you how teams are ranked in each of the four designated FHSAA regions.
Class 6A Top 10
1. Mainland, 3-0, 1
Week 3: Defeated Flagler Palm Coast, 35-10
This Week: vs. Pine Ridge at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium
Comment: Took care of business with Flagler Palm Coast despite slow start. Should not have a hard time in dealing with Pine Ridge this week as district play opens.
2. Miami Central, 2-1, 2
Week 3: Defeated First Coast, 41-0
This Week: vs. Miami Norland at FIU-North Miami Stadium
Comment: Blew out Miami Killian to bounce back from a huge defeat to DeMatha Catholic the week before. Will face a First Coast team that was upset on the road last week by Gainesville.
3. Armwood, 2-0, 3
Week 3: Defeated Bloomingdale, 49-7
This Week: at Chamberlain
Comment: Armwood steamrolled through Bloomingdale last week and is still perfect on the season. Will open district play against an 0-3 Chamberlain this coming week.
4. Navarre, 3-0, 4
Week 3: Idle
This Week: vs. Choctawhatchee
Comment: Navarre enjoyed the first of two bye weeks off this past week and should be prepared to take on a Choctawhatchee team that has defeated them last three times they have meet including the playoffs. Michael Carter is lost for the season due to a PCL injury, so it will be interesting to see how the Raiders adjust this week.
5. Escambia, 3-0, 5
Week 3: Defeated Pensacola Catholic, 35-10
This Week: vs. Jesuit, LA
Comment: The Gators secured another first this past week – their first win over Pensacola Catholic since 2008. Escambia hasn’t been much of a surprise to us and the winning should continue this week when they host Jesuit out of New Orleans.
6. Heritage, 1-1, 6
Week 3: Idle
This Week: at Eau Gallie
Comment: Heritage got an early bye week, but not sure how much preparation is need for Eau Gallie, a team that Rockledge blew out last week and had only won by a field goal just the week before.
7. St. Augustine, 2-0, 8
Week 3: Defeated Creekside, 35-17.
This Week: vs. Melbourne
Comment: St. Augustine remains undefeated after beating Creekside and will get ready this week to host Melbourne, Joey Wiles former team he coached before coming to St. Augustine, in a non-district tilt.
8. Naples, 1-1, 7
Week 3: Defeated Island Coast, 63-0
This Week: Idle
Comment: Naples will come off a bye week looking at facing an undefeated Gulf Coast team. The Golden Eagles might not find the Sharks much of a challenge despite what the record says.
9. Niceville, 2-1, 9
Week 3: Defeated Godby, 28-14
This Week: vs. Bassfield, Miss.
Comment: The Eagles shrugged off the loss to Escambia from Week 2 and took care of business against Godby. Now they will get ready for this week’s tilt against Bassfield, a three-time defending state champion from Mississippi.
10. Tate, 2-0, 10
Week 3: Idle
This Week: vs. Pensacola
Comment: Tate enjoyed a bye week last week and will get ready to take on longtime rival Pensacola in a non-district tilt. Pensacola has been a team back on the rise, so this game should be filled with fans going crazy for both sides.
