Here are FloridaHSFootball.com’s Class 6A Rankings after Week 4. Ranking, team name, record and previous rank included for each team.
Below the Top 10 are the regional rankings for Class 6A, showing you how teams are ranked in each of the four designated FHSAA regions.
Class 6A Top 10
1. Mainland, 4-0, 1
Week 4: Defeated Pine Ridge, 48-0
This Week: at Dr. Phillips
Comment: Another week of taking care of business for the Buccaneers as they rolled to their first district victory of the season. Mainland will travel over to Dr. Phillips this week as they try to improve to 5-0 on the season.
2. Miami Central, 3-1, 2
Week 4: Defeated Miami Norland, 13-0
This Week: vs. Booker T. Washington at Traz Powell
Comment: Took a hit in the scoring points department with the new starting QB going out of the game with an injury as well as Norland’s defense being tough as well. Will see how the Rockets stand up this week against Booker T. Washington.
3. Armwood, 3-0, 3
Week 4: Defeated Chamberlain, 52-0
This Week: vs. Plant
Comment: Armwood has not shown any mercy to any opponent so far this season, but that could change this week. Plant makes the trip over to Lyle Flagg Stadium at Armwood High, renewing the regular season rivalry between two of the best teams in Hillsborough County which will tell us a lot about both teams.
4. Navarre, 4-0, 4
Week 4: Defeated Choctawhatchee, 16-14
This Week: at Fort Walton Beach
Comment: That was a close shave last week for the Navarre Raiders as the defense held up and Brady Hammel kicked up the game winning field goal. This week they will travel to Fort Walton Beach that finally got its first win of the season this past week.
5. Heritage, 2-1, 6
Week 4: Defeated Eau Gallie, 53-14
This Week: at Osceola (Kissimmee)
Comment: Came off the bye week ready to beat down on their next opponent and that is exactly what happened as the Panthers rolled by Eau Gallie easily. However, this week will be another big test as Heritage travels to undefeated Kissimmee Osceola.
6. St. Augustine, 3-0, 7
Week 4: Defeated Melbourne 10-0
This Week: vs. Bartram Trail
Comment: St. Augustine just scored 10 points, but it was enough to defeat Melbourne. However, scoring 10 points this week, might not win them the game against Bartram Trail, a team they have never lost to since that school opened in 2000.
7. Escambia, 3–1, 5
Week 4: Lost to Jesuit, La., 26-17
This Week: at Columbia
Comment: After getting things going to a great start, Escambia ran into a bit of trouble losing to a solid Jesuit team from New Orleans. The Gators will look to bounce back on a long road trip this week at Lake City Columbia.
8. Niceville, 3-1, 9
Week 4: Defeated Bassifield, Miss., 54-21
This Week: at Tate
Comment: Niceville made easy work of the three-time defending state champions from Mississippi and is starting to bounce back. However, Tate could have a word or two on Friday on how the rankings look next week.
9. Tate, 3-0, 10
Week 4: Defeated Pensacola, 26-14
This Week: vs.Niceville
Comment: The Aggies secured a big victory over rival Pensacola to a sold-out crowd. The Aggies this week will get to define the placement of the rankings as they host Niceville in a battle or ranked teams.
10. Naples, 2-1, 8
Week 4: Defeated Gulf Coast, 42-6
This Week: at Immoaklee
Comment: Easily took out crosstown rival Gulf Coast and will get ready to head over to Immokalee this week to take on the Indians in another Collier County showdown.
