6. Wakulla at Trenton
When: Saturday, 7:00 p.m. ET
Where: Tiger Stadium, Trenton
Why: Both teams reached their respective classification’s state championships last season with Wakulla finish as the Class 5A runner-up to Bishop Moore. Trenton finished as the Class 1A champion after defeating Port St. Joe for the second time in the same season. However, both teams have experienced some heavy losses as Wakulla saw the links of quarterback Feleipe Franks and Keith Gavin graduate and head to Florida and Florida State respectively, while Trenton saw over 20 seniors graduate as well. On top of that for Trenton, former head coach Andrew Thomas left to take the same position at T.R. Miller High School in Alabama after posting a 60-5 record in five seasons that includes two state championships. Now both teams must face a talk task of finding out what their rosters will generate for them on the field and this game will likely do some of that, but not all of it to start with. Both teams which played their kickoff classics last week, saw Wakulla fall to Leon 7-0 while Trenton topped The Villages 12-0 in a storm-shortened game, not providing many glimpses of what to expect on the field come Saturday night.
