GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After eight weeks of football, the FHSAA has once again updated the playoff point averages for all teams in all classifications.
Once again, some big changes have taken place across the board this week as some teams have entered the projected playoff picture while others have fallen out. In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 2A, you will find a breakdown of point averages for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.
REGION 1
Team | Record | Avg |
North Florida Christian | 4-3 | 40.29 |
University Christian | 6-2 | 39.00 |
Maclay | 7-0 | 39.29 |
Aucilla Christian | 6-1 | 37.57 |
Eagle’s View | 2-4 | 35.17 |
Munroe Day | 3-4 | 34.86 |
Rocky Bayou Christian | 2-4 | 33.00 |
FAMU DRS | 2-4 | 33.67 |
North Florida Educational | 0-6 | 31.00 |
St. John Paul II (Tallahassee) | 0-5 | 29.60 |
PROJECTED SEEDS
No. 1 North Florida Christian
No. 2 Univeristy Christian
No. 3 Maclay
No. 4 Aucilla Christian
No. 5 Eagle’s View
No. 6 Munroe Day
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
BYES: No. 1 North Florida Christian, No. 2 University Christian
No. 5 Eagle’s View at No. 4 Aucilla Christian
No. 6 Munroe Day at No. 3 Maclay
QUICK THOUGHTS: As expected, University Christian makes a move into the top two seeds in this region and should contend here for a possible No. 1 seed depending if North Florida Christian is able to play Port St. Joe come Week 11 thanks to Hurricane Michael. Maclay moves to third but could be back in contention for the No. 2 seed next week depending on the result of the game tonight against North Florida Educational. Otherwise nothing else changes in this region. Do note that Eagle’s View actual record is 3-4 not 2-4, but the game vs. Cocoa Beach does not count as it was a last second addition to the schedule after the August 20 cutoff.
REGION 2
Team | Record | Avg |
Victory Christian | 6-1 | 39.57 |
Foundation Academy | 6-2 | 37.13 |
Zephyrhills Christian | 4-2 | 35.17 |
Trinity Christian (Deltona) | 6-2 | 34.75 |
Oak Hall | 4-3 | 34.71 |
St. Francis Catholic | 4-3 | 33.57 |
Kingdom Prep | 1-5 | 30.67 |
Halifax Academy | 5-3 | 30.00 |
Warner Christian | 0-6 | 29.33 |
Cornerstone Charter | 3-5 | 29.13 |
Merritt Island Christian | 1-5 | 27.67 |
PROJECTED SEEDS
No. 1 Victory Christian
No. 2 Foundation Academy
No. 3 Zephyrhills Christian
No. 4 Trinity Christian (Deltona)
No. 5 Oak Hall
No. 6 St. Francis Catholic
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
BYES: No. 1 Victory Christian, No. 2 Foundation Academy
No. 5 Oak Hall at No. 4 Trinity Christian (Deltona)
No. 6 St. Francis Catholic at No. 3 Zephyrhills Christian
QUICK THOUGHTS: Nothing changes in regard to the top two seed despite Foundation Academy having dropped games the last two weeks. Zephyrhills Christian swaps seed placement with Trinity Christian (Deltona) and could likely hold that seed placement for the rest of the season if they win out or win at least two of the remaining three games on the schedule. Otherwise, the teams you see listed here are likely the teams representing this region in the playoffs, just probably not in this exact seeding order.
REGION 3
Team | Record | Avg |
Admiral Farragut | 5-1 | 38.17 |
Carrollwood Day | 4-3 | 37.43 |
Seffner Christian | 7-0 | 37.29 |
Evangelical Christian | 3-4 | 34.43 |
Southwest Florida Christian | 2-6 | 32.63 |
Northside Christian | 2-5 | 32.71 |
Indian Rocks Christian | 2-6 | 31.75 |
Keswick Christian | 3-4 | 28.57 |
Cambridge Christian | 3-5 | 27.75 |
PROJECTED SEEDS
No. 1 Admiral Farragut
No. 2 Carrollwood Day
No. 3 Seffner Christian
No. 4 Evangelical Christian
No. 5 Southwest Florida Christian
No. 6 Northside Christian
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
BYES: No. 1 Admiral Farragut, No. 2 Carrollwood Day
No. 5 Southwest Florida Christian at No. 4 Evangelical Christian
No. 6 Northside Christian at No. 3 Seffner Christian
QUICK THOUGHTS: A lot of changes here this week as Cambridge Christian suffers yet another loss and goes from the No. 4 seed to last in the region and on the outside looking in. In that process, Admiral Farragut slides up to No. 1 while Carrollwood Day moves to No. 2 while Seffner Christian, despite not losing, falls to No. 3. As we see here strength of schedule is very much in play here with the teams and given three weeks are left anything could possibly happen in this region in terms of who is in and who is out.
REGION 4
Team | Record | Avg |
Glades Day | 4-3 | 39.71 |
Moore Haven | 5-1 | 39.67 |
Miami Christian | 7-0 | 38.57 |
St. John Neumann | 5-1 | 38.33 |
Champagnat | 3-4 | 37.14 |
First Baptist (Naples) | 3-4 | 35.14 |
Community School (Naples) | 3-4 | 31.43 |
Village Academy | 0-7 | 28.57 |
Marco Island Academy | 0-5 | 26.20 |
PROJECTED SEEDS
No. 1 Glades Day
No. 2 Moore Haven
No. 3 Miami Christian
No. 4 St. John Neumann
No. 5 Champagnat
No. 6 First Baptist (Naples)
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
BYES: No. 1 Glades Day, No. 2 Moore Haven
No. 5 Champagnat at No. 4 St. John Neumann
No. 6 First Baptist (Naples) at No. 3 Miami Christian
QUICK THOUGHTS: Some shifts here this week as Glades Day moves into the top seed with Moore Haven following at No. 2 while Miami Christian falls to the No. 3 seed despite not having lost a game yet. The rest of the seeding order remains the same right now and likely here as we saw in Region 2, the six teams you see here are likely the teams we will see in the playoffs unless Community School of Naples makes a late push.
