GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Ten weeks of football is in the books and the FHSAA has updated the playoff point averages for all teams in all classifications for the final time this season leading to Sunday’s bracket reveal.
As such with this latest update, the playoff picture is starting to become much clearer, but there are still areas where things can drastically change based upon this week’s final regular season games.
In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 8A, you will find a breakdown of point averages for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.
NOTE: Teams in RED have clinched their district championship

QUICK THOUGHTS: A lot of shifting of the seeds here this week with Wekiva back to the No. 1 overall seed based upon points of breaking the three-way tie for the District 8A-4 championship. Apopka falls from the No. 1 seed to the No. 5 seed after getting shutout by Wekiva. Mandarin moves up to the No. 2 seed while DeLand retains the No. 6 seed while Flagler Palm Coast and West Orange change seeds. Sandalwood is knocking on the door for a possible playoff seed after picking up their big win last week over DeLand with Lake Mary and Seminole not far behind.

QUICK THOUGHTS: It is a for sure lock that Vero Beach will be the No. 1 seed in this region and with all the districts having locked in district champions it remains to be seen who will officially be in as a wildcard fully. It is almost for certain Treasure Coast and Centennial will both be in based on their high point averages, but Manatee and Gateway will have to try to fend off challenges here late from Ridge Community, George Jenkins, and Steinbrenner.

QUICK THOUGHTS: Some interesting changes here this week as only three of the four district champion spots are officially locked in with District 8A-12’s tie to be broken through the final points thanks to Miramar’s win over Western. As such Wellington moves up to the No. 5 seed with Miramar, Western and Piper rounding the top eight seeds. Park Vista and Seminole Ridge are the next two teams behind but have a lot of catching up to do catch Piper for that No. 8 seed.

QUICK THOUGHTS: Always expect the unexpected in this region. Columbus bumps up to the No. 1 seed thanks to forfeit of the Carol City game and their win over Coral Gables last week. Miami Southridge bumps up to the No. 2 seed after winning their district while Belen Jesuit and Hialeah trade seeding spots. Coral Gables enters the wildcard seeding section after Homestead dropped a big game to Miami Edison last week. However, Homestead still has a chance depending on this week’s results.
