Palmetto Tigers (2-1) at Manatee Hurricanes (2-0)
When: Friday
Where: Joe Kinnan Field at Hawkins Stadium, Bradenton
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET
Skinny: The Tigers are coming off a stunning 34-20 loss to Braden River where they gave up 27 unanswered points to the Pirates. That included giving up 210 yards rushing and four touchdowns to running back Lavontae Youmans who helped spark the comeback. That is something the Tigers are going to be looking to avoid this week in having a big letdown against crosstown rival Manatee. Keep an eye on quarterback Josh Siplin (2021) who went 10-of-18 passing for 124 yards a touchdown and an interception. Siplin did have 45 yards rushing and a touchdown in the game. Rubin Stamp (2021) lead the way for the Tigers last week in tackles collecting 20 tackles including three tackles for loss. Last week, the host Hurricanes collected their second win on the season with a 41-17 win over Lakewood Ranch to stay undefeated. Quarterback Jayse Berzowski (2022) went 12-of-16 passing for 168 yards and two touchdowns while running back Kyree Jones (2022) had nearly 90 yards rushing, but was highly effective with his touches, scoring three touchdowns. Defensively the team had three sacks and two interceptions that helped keep Lakewood Ranch off the field.
