After missing last week due to illness, Joshua Wilson is back with a look at the Class 6A Regional Rankings with complete analysis as we head into Week 3.
REGION 1
1. St. Augustine, 1-0
2. Jacksonville Riverside, 2-0
3. Pensacola Escambia, 1-0
4. Lake City Columbia, 1-1
5. Tallahassee Rickards, 1-1
6. Tallahassee Lincoln, 1-1
ANALYSIS: St. Augustine got the season started late after having to cancel with Dunnellon Week 1, but picked up win No. 1 on the season with a win over Menendez in Week 2. Riverside is looking good so far and Escambia also picked up their first win last week after missing the season opener due to COVID-19 issues. Columbia which came out strong in Week 1, took a tumble in Week 2 against Bolles. Rickards and Lincoln are battling it out this year to be among the best from Tallahassee proper.
REGION 2
1. Orlando Jones, 2-0
2. Minneola Lake Minneola, 1-1
3. Ocala Vanguard, 2-0
4. Daytona Beach Mainland, 0-1
5. Lake Wales, 2-0
6. Spring Hill Springstead, 2-0
ANALYSIS: Lake Minneola getting shut out Week 2 6-0 by Fleming Island was a stunning result of Week 2. That is was after the Hawks pulled a 71-0 shutout in Week 1 against Tohopekliga. With that said, Jones now moves into the top spot in our Region 2 rankings while Vanguard still holds things down at No. 3.
REGION 3
1. Tampa Jesuit, 2-0
2. Tampa Hillsborough, 2-0
3. Largo Pinellas Park, 2-0
4. Bradenton Braden River, 0-0
5. Bradenton Southeast, 1-0
6. St. Petersburg Northeast, 2-0
ANALYSIS: It is going to be a fight between Jesuit and Hillsborough this year for the top two spots in Region 3, but with that said, Jesuit has made it much clearer that they are the team to beat in Region 3 and likely in all of Class 6A after their statement win over St. Thomas Aquinas. Pinellas Park, Braden River, and Southeast all have looked coming out of the start, while Northeast, which struggled last year, is off to a hot 2-0 start.
REGION 4
1. Miami Northwestern, 2-0
2. Naples, 2-0
3. Plantation, 1-0
4. Fort Myers Dunbar, 1-0
5. South Fort Myers, 2-0
6. Fort Myers, 1-1
ANALYSIS: Miami Northwestern remains the top team in the region while Naples is right behind them at No. 2. Plantation which did not play last week remains at No. 3 while Fort Myers Dunbar and South Fort Myers moved up with wins. Notably, with South Fort Myers, they got a huge Week 2 win over Fort Myers.
