Four weeks are in the books for the 2021 Florida high school football season and the FHSAA has released their first look at the RPI rankings as we head into Week 5 of the season
As such this update provides the entire state a glimpse of what the potential playoff matchups could be looking like come the second week of November, but remember things change, as we still have seven weeks worth of games (including this week) to go and this is just a very early glimpse at things.
In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 1A, you will find a breakdown of RPI rankings for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Baker – BYE
No. 5 Northview vs. No. 4 Chipley
No. 6 Bozeman vs. No. 3 Holmes County
No. 2 Freeport – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: Although this is very early, Baker and Freeport are in a position to be the top two seeds, but given how Holmes County is playing, things could be up in the air regarding the top three seeds as we go through the remaining seven weeks.
REGION 2
Rank | School | RPI | OWP | OOWP |
1 | Blountstown | 0.76146 | 0.66667 | 0.59375 |

3 | Madison County | 0.48750 | 0.37500 | 0.60417 |

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Blountstown – BYE
No. 5 Liberty County vs. No. 4 Sneads
No. 6 Hamilton County vs. No. 3 Madison County
No. 2 Port St. Joe – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: Madison County not leading the way here is stunning, but again this is still early in the process with the RPI rankings. Blountstown and Port St. Joe are off to hot starts and right now they are showing why they are the top two teams in the region.
REGION 3
Rank | School | RPI | OWP | OOWP |
1 | Union County | 0.76389 | 0.61111 | 0.66667 |
2 | Chiefland | 0.68396 | 0.54167 | 0.48125 |
3 | Hilliard | 0.67396 | 0.41667 | 0.59375 |
4 | Branford | 0.63472 | 0.27778 | 0.62500 |
5 | Lafayette | 0.55000 | 0.45833 | 0.42361 |
6 | Dixie County | 0.50104 | 0.45833 | 0.55208 |
7 | Fort White | 0.48194 | 0.27778 | 0.50463 |
8 | Bell | 0.38125 | 0.62500 | 0.25000 |
9 | Trenton | 0.37500 | 0.41667 | 0.47222 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Union County – BYE
No. 5 Lafayette vs. No. 4 Branford
No. 6 Dixie County vs. No. 3 Hilliard
No. 2 Chiefland – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: Union County’s impressive start has them leading the race early on for the top seed in the region and Chiefland’s hot streak of 4 straight wins has gotten them going as well. What is also interesting here is that Hilliard and Branford at this point are in line to host games based on these projections. Again though, remember that it is still early in this race with the RPI rankings.

3 | Pahokee | 0.63194 | 0.16667 | 0.74537 |
4 | Fort Meade | 0.57361 | 0.55556 | 0.48611 |
5 | Newberry | 0.53958 | 0.62500 | 0.48611 |
6 | Bradford (Starke) | 0.53021 | 0.83333 | 0.50347 |
7 | Bronson | 0.50833 | 0.54167 | 0.47917 |

9 | Williston | 0.32917 | 0.58333 | 0.41667 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Hawthorne – BYE
No. 5 Newberry vs. No. 4 Fort Meade
No. 6 Bradford vs. No. 3 Pahokee
No. 2 Wildwood – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: It should not shock anyone that Hawthorne and Wildwood are leading the way in this region with Pahokee and Fort Meade also looking to make a play at getting the top two seeds in this region. Bradford is on the verge here of being out at this point, but still early in the game.
