While some teams have already claimed a district championship, a lot more teams can add to the list in Class 5A through Class 8A and lock up playoff spots for next month. Here is a look at where things stand right now in Class 7A as we head into Week 9.
Records show are district standings only, not overall records.
DISTRICT 7A-1
Niceville, 2-0
Navarre, 2-0
Crestview, 1-1
Pace, 1-2
Tate, 0-3
OUTLOOK: The mission is very simple for Niceville this week – defeat Navarre and that will capture a playoff berth and a district championship for the Eagles. However, if Navarre wins, it will set up some very interesting scenarios for the final week of district play next week.
DISTRICT 7A-2
Buchholz, 2-0
Chiles, 1-1
Forest, 1-1
Leon, 0-2
OUTLOOK: Nothing will shake out this week in the district, but Buchholz has the inside track and a chance to win it all next week.
DISTRICT 7A-3
Fletcher, 3-0
Nease, 3-1
Fleming Island, 2-1
Atlantic Coast, 1-2
Ponte Vedra, 1-3
First Coast, 0-3
OUTLOOK: Although Fletcher has two district games remaining on the schedule, a win over Ponte Vedra this week will officially lock in the district championship and playoff berth for the Senators. Anything else here would open up some other scenarios for next week.
DISTRICT 7A-4
Spruce Creek, 3-0
University (Orange City), 1-1
Winter Springs, 1-1
Lyman, 1-2
Lake Howell, 0-2
OUTLOOK: If University takes care of business against Winter Springs this week, Spruce Creek will officially clinch the district championship. However, if Winter Springs pulls off the upset on University, Spruce Creek will have to defeat Winter Springs next week to officially clinch the district and a playoff berth.
DISTRICT 7A-5
Lake Gibson, 3-0
Bartow, 1-1
Lakeland, 1-1
Kathleen, 1-1
George Jenkins, 0-3
OUTLOOK: The goal is very simple this week for district leader Lake Gibson and that is to win the game against Kathleen. If the Braves take a loss this week, it opens up a lot of scenarios for the final week of district play next week.
DISTRICT 7A-6
Edgewater, 3-0
Wekiva, 1-1
Ridge Community, 1-1
Winter Haven, 1-2
East Ridge, 0-2
OUTLOOK: Things are simple here this week for Edgewater – win against Ridge Community and a district championship and playoff berth will be locked up for the Eagles.
DISTRICT 7A-7
Melbourne, 3-0
Viera, 2-0
East River, 1-2
Harmony, 0-2
St. Cloud, 0-2
OUTLOOK: Melbourne and Viera will each have a chance next week to clinch the district championship when both teams meet up. This is the only scenario that exists for this district.
DISTRICT 7A-8
Martin County, 2-0
Dwyer, 2-0
Seminole Ridge, 2-1
Sebastian River, 0-2
Fort Pierce Westwood, 0-3
OUTLOOK: For Martin County, the goal is very simple this week – get a victory over Dwyer and a playoff berth will be locked in with a district championship. However, for Dwyer, the goal will be to get a win over Martin County to keep district title hopes alive and set up some new scenarios for the final week of district play.
DISTRICT 7A-9
Mitchell, 2-1
Gaither, 2-1
Largo, 1-1
Sickles, 1-1
Leto, 0-2
OUTLOOK: This district took a turn for chaos when Largo pulled the upset on Mitchell last week and right now as it stands, no one will clinch the district at least this week and a three-way tie scenario is looking quite possible which would leave it to the RPI rankings to break the tie after Week 11.
DISTRICT 7A-10
Tampa Bay Tech, 2-0
Wharton, 2-0
Armwood, 1-1
Wiregrass Ranch, 1-2
Strawberry Crest, 0-2
OUTLOOK: First, looking at Tampa Bay Tech, a win over Wharton will clinch the district championship and a playoff berth for the Titans. For Wharton, a win over Tampa Bay Tech sets things up for the Wildcats to clinch the district championship and playoff berth next week against Armwood. However, if Wharton wins and Armwood stumbles against Wiregrass Ranch, Wharton can clinch the district. Other scenarios are possible next week if things turn into chaos this week.
DISTRICT 7A-11
Palmetto, 3-0
Bloomingdale, 2-0
Manatee, 1-1
East Bay, 0-2
Lennard, 0-3
OUTLOOK: Palmetto has one task at hand this week and that is simply to defeat Bloomingdale for the district championship and a playoff berth. However, if Bloomingdale wins coupled with an East Bay win over Manatee, the Bulls will win the district championship and get a guaranteed playoff berth. A lot at stake here in this district.
DISTRICT 7A-12
Lehigh, 2-0
Palmetto Ridge, 1-0
Riverdale, 0-1
North Port, 0-2
OUTLOOK: The mission is very simple for Lehigh this week and that is to get the victory over Palmetto Ride to wrap up district play and to clinch a playoff berth. If Palmetto Ridge pulls the upset, that will leave things in chaos unless North Port pulls an upset on Riverdale. If that happens then Palmetto Ridge would win the district out right and clinch a playoff berth.
DISTRICT 7A-13
Fort Lauderdale, 3-0
Atlantic (Delray Beach), 2-0
Blanche Ely, 0-1
Olympic Heights, 0-2
Piper, 0-2
OUTLOOK: Fort Lauderdale and Atlantic are the district leaders right now and with this week, no one can clinch the district championship or a playoff berth, but right now both the Flying L’s and Eagles will meet next week with the district championship and a playoff berth on the line.
DISTRICT 7A-14
Dillard, 3-0
St. Thomas Aquinas, 2-0
Nova, 1-1
Cooper City, 1-2
South Plantation, 0-4
OUTLOOK: A lot is on the line this week in the district. First, if Dillard defeats St. Thomas Aquinas, they will clinch the district championship and a playoff berth. However, if St. Thomas Aquinas defeats Dillard, they would have to either wait next week and get a victory over Nova to officially clinch the district, or if Cooper City defeats Nova and the Raiders defeat the Panthers, then the district and a playoff berth would be clinched this week.
DISTRICT 7A-15
Miramar, 3-0 – CLINCHED
South Broward, 1-1
North Miami, 2-1
McArthur, 1-2
Everglades, 0-3
OUTLOOK: With Miramar’s victory over McArthur last week, the Patriots clinched the district championship and a berth into the playoffs.
DISTRICT 7A-16
Homestead, 4-0 – CLINCHED
Doral Academy, 3-1
Miami Southridge, 2-2
Mater Academy, 1-3
Hialeah, 0-4
OUTLOOK: With Homestead’s convincing victory over Doral Academy last week clinched the district championship and a playoff berth for the Broncos.
