Nine weeks are in the books for the 2021 Florida high school football season and the FHSAA has released their latest look at the RPI football playoff rankings as we head into Week 10 of the season.

As such this update provides the entire state a glimpse of what the potential playoff matchups could be looking like come the second week of November, but remember things change, as we still have three weeks worth of games (including this week) to go, however, the playoff picture is starting to become much more clearer with few games left.

In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.

For Class 8A, you will find a breakdown of RPI rankings for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.

REGION 1

Rank Team Record RPI
1 Seminole (Sanford) 8-1 0.738
2 Lake Mary 7-1 0.712
3 Bartram Trail 8-1 0.710
4 Winter Park 6-2 0.624
5 Creekside 6-2 0.616
6 Apopka 5-2 0.614
7 Timber Creek 6-2 0.591
8 Lake Brantley 5-3 0.588
9 DeLand 3-3 0.570
10 Ocoee 5-2 0.565
11 Oviedo 5-3 0.560
12 Flagler Palm Coast 4-4 0.554
13 Mandarin 4-5 0.532
14 Oakleaf 4-4 0.522
15 Sandalwood 3-5 0.488
16 Hagerty 4-4 0.483
17 West Port 1-7 0.429
18 University (Orlando) 2-6 0.415
19 Evans 2-7 0.403
20 Colonial 2-6 0.370

PROJECTED DISTRICT CHAMPS
This is based on current district standings and taking the highest-rated team among the district standings if they have won district games. Should a district not have any district games played as of yet, the highest-rated team will be mythically slotted in as a district champion for projection purposes only. Teams highlighted in red have officially clinched their district championship.

8A-1: Bartram Trail – No. 2
8A-2: Seminole (Sanford) – No. 1
8A-3: Apopka – No. 3
8A-4: Winter Park – No. 4

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

No. 8 Lake Brantley vs. No. 1 Seminole
No. 5 Lake Mary vs. No. 4 Apopka
No. 6 Creekside vs. No. 3 Winter Park
No. 7 Timber Creek vs. No. 2 Bartram Trail

QUICK THOUGHTS: A lot changed in the region this week with Seminole and Bartram Trail locking up playoff spots and very likely the top two seeds while the at-large berths saw shifts. Lake Mary moved into the No. 5 seed while Creekside moved up to the No. 6 seed with Lake Brantley sliding in at the No. 8 seed as DeLand fell to the outside after their stunning loss to Flagler Palm Coast.

REGION 2

Rank Team Record RPI
1 Palm Beach Central 7-0 0.705
2 Treasure Coast 6-1 0.664
3 Vero Beach 5-2 0.631
4 Boone 6-2 0.613
5 Palm Beach Gardens 5-3 0.571
6 Forest Hill 5-2 0.562
7 Centennial 4-3 0.545
8 Wellington 6-2 0.541
9 Lake Nona 5-3 0.536
10 Park Vista 5-2 0.527
11 Jupiter 4-4 0.466
12 Freedom (Orlando) 5-4 0.461
13 Fort Pierce Central 3-5 0.450
14 Oak Ridge 3-5 0.419
15 Royal Palm Beach 0-7 0.391
16 Tohopekaliga 2-7 0.372
17 Palm Beach Lakes 0-8 0.370
18 Lake Worth 1-6 0.367
19 Santaluces 1-7 0.355
20 Cypress Creek (Orlando) 3-6 0.313
21 John I. Leonard 1-7 0.303

8A-5: Boone – No. 3
8A-6: Treasure Coast – No. 2
8A-7: Palm Beach Central – No. 1
8A-8: Forest Hill – No. 4

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

No. 8 Wellington vs. No. 1 Palm Beach Central
No. 5 Vero Beach vs. No. 4 Forest Hill
No. 6 Palm Beach Gardens vs. No. 3 Boone
No. 7 Centennial vs. No. 2 Treasure Coast

QUICK THOUGHTS: Nothing changes this week in the projected Top 4 seeds while two of the four district champions have already been determined. Nothing actually changes until the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds where Centennial is now projected in the playoffs as a No. 7 seed while Wellington slides one place back as the No. 8 seed knocking out Park Vista who fell to No. 10 in the region.

REGION 3

Rank Team Record RPI
1 Venice 7-1 0.720
2 Riverview (Sarasota) 7-1 0.712
3 West Orange 8-1 0.677
4 Newsome 6-2 0.627
5 Durant 8-1 0.614
6 Osceola (Kissimmee) 6-2 0.606
7 Plant City 5-3 0.593
8 Steinbrenner 5-4 0.584
9 Sarasota 5-3 0.563
10 Dr. Phillips 3-6 0.548
11 Plant 5-3 0.546
12 Gulf Coast 3-5 0.512
13 Olympia 4-4 0.503
14 East Lake 2-6 0.493
15 Alonso 5-3 0.492
16 Celebration 5-3 0.488

18 Lakewood Ranch 2-6 0.445
19 Riverview (Riverview) 2-6 0.404
20 Windermere 2-6 0.375

PROJECTED DISTRICT CHAMPS
This is based on current district standings and taking the highest-rated team among the district standings if they have won district games. Should a district not have any district games played as of yet, the highest-rated team will be mythically slotted in as a district champion for projection purposes only. 8A-9: West Orange – No. 2
8A-10: Newsome – No. 3
8A-11: Steinbrenner – No. 4
8A-12: Venice – No. 1

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

No. 8 Plant City vs. No. 1 Venice
No. 5 Riverview (Sarasota) vs. No. 4 Steinbrenner
No. 6 Durant vs. No. 3 Newsome
No. 7 Osceola (Kissimmee) vs. No. 2 West Orange

QUICK THOUGHTS: Despite the loss to Cardinal Gibbons, Venices maintains the No. 1 overall seed in the region while West Orange has locked in a top-four seed in the region with their district championship-clinching win over Kissimmee Osceola. None of the other top seeds change position either this week. However, things did change up for the at-large berths and that could set up for a rematch with Osceola and West Orange in the first round if things hold while Plant City slides in at the No. 8 seed bumping Plant out of contention for now.

REGION 4

Rank Team Record RPI
1 Miami Palmetto 6-1 0.708
2 Western 5-2 0.672
3 Boca Raton 6-1 0.662
4 Deerfield Beach 5-2 0.617
5 Columbus 4-3 0.611
6 South Dade 3-3 0.574
7 Dr. Krop 5-1 0.573
8 Coral Glades 4-1 0.572
9 Cypress Bay 5-2 0.562
10 Miami 3-2 0.544
11 Coral Reef 4-3 0.523
12 Monarch 3-3 0.521
13 Stoneman Douglas 2-3 0.512
14 Miami Beach 3-2 0.481
15 Flanagan 3-3 0.459
16 Southwest Miami 1-5 0.433
17 West Broward 2-4 0.412
18 Coral Springs 1-5 0.397
19 West Boca Raton 1-4 0.349
20 Coral Gables 0-5 0.311
21 Taravella 0-8 0.311

Should a district not have any district games played as of yet, the highest-rated team will be mythically slotted in as a district champion for projection purposes only. 8A-13: Boca Raton – No. 3
8A-14: Western – No. 2
8A-15: Dr. Krop – No. 4
8A-16: Miami Palmetto – No. 1

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

No. 8 Coral Glades vs. No. 1 Miami Palmetto
No. 5 Deerfield Beach vs. No. 4 Dr. Krop
No. 6 Columbus vs. No. 3 Boca Raton
No. 7 South Dade vs. No. 2 Western

QUICK THOUGHTS: None of the top four seeds changed position this week with three of the four district champions decided with one being decided this week. And surprisingly nothing has changed among the at-large berths with everything remaining the same from last week.
