Welcome to the first FloridaHSFootball.com Florida Top 25 for the 2024 season!
I intended on posting this on Thursday afternoon before the games got going, but due to some tech issues we were working out with the website after posting the district projections, this did not get to go up. As such, I know a couple of teams listed here have already played their first game of the season, but we want to be fair and post the rankings as to where they started as they were ranked beforehand.
Each week, I will provide a brief synopsis of the Top 10 and present the rest of the Top 25 listed below that. Starting next week, records and previous rankings will be shown. The FloridaHSFootball.com Top 25 rankings will not necessarily reflect the FloridaHSFootball.com Sports Media Poll Weekly Rankings that are running each week during the season.
PRESEASON TOP 10
- Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) (1A) – The Lions have been the best-performing team in the state for the past few years. I don’t see any reason why not to start them on top.
- IMG Academy (Bradenton) (IND) – One of the top-rated teams in the nation that does not play for a state championship. I know some will argue with me about ranking them or not ranking them, but I digress. I am here to rank the football.
- Cocoa (2A) – This team is going to be special in 2024. Just watch and see what they do each week.
- St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) (5A) – Five straight state championships and honestly the Raiders will likely be in line for their sixth straight state championship this season.
- Miami Central (3A) – It was rare last year to not have the Rockets playing for a state championship, but they are going to be a heavy favorite in 2024.
- American Heritage (Plantation) (4A) – Honestly, this team will be a favorite to watch in Class 4A and will have some tough games along the way to prepare them.
- Miami Norland (4A) – Another team that will be among the favorites to win a state championship in 2024.
- Lakeland (5A) – The Dreadnaughts will be a threat again regardless of the classification they are assigned. They have reloaded and will give a lot of teams fits during the season.
- Venice (7A) – The Indians are just loaded once again and will have a favorable chance to win a state title in the highest classification in 2024.
- Mandarin (6A) – A ton of weapons, especially on offense for the Mustangs and you better believe this team has a path toward winning the program’s second overall state title in 2024.
