When: 7 p.m. CT, Thursday
Where: Merle V. North Stadium, Jay
Broadcast/streaming info: NFHS Network
Records: Chipley, 4-0; Jay 4-0
Rankings: Chipley No. 7 in Class Rural; Jay No. 8 in Class Rural
What To Know: Visiting Chipley is coming off an 18-0 victory at home against Vernon … host Jay is celebrating after a huge Week 4 victory over rival Baker in the Battle of Highway 4, a 41-0 win … The Tigers have not scored more than 24 points in a game except since Week 1 when they defeated North Florida Christian (Tallahassee), 46-0 … Jay is averaging 36 points per game in through the first four weeks of the season … The host Royals have given up only 14 points to opponents in their four games played including pitching two shutouts against Vernon and Chipley … The Tigers, while having no recorded stats on MaxPreps have given up 25 points with 18 coming against Linden out of Alabama in Week 2 along with pitching two shutouts … For the Royals, quarterback Hayden Morris has been excelling with 479 passing yards and seven touchdowns in the four games played with his favorite target being Brady Godwin who has 16 catches for 338 yards and four touchdowns … Also keep an eye on Jaymes Youngblood at running back who has already amassed 97 carries for 521 yards rushing and nine touchdowns so far in 2024 … Weston Salter leads Jay in total tackles on defense with 27 while Goodwin who also plays defense has racked up 19 total tackles and leads the team with four sacks … Morris along with cornerback Keaton Payne are tied with two interceptions each.
Josh’s Pick: Both teams are looking solid so far with 4-0 starts. However, we got to look at the fact that Jay just blew out a team that has traditionally dominated them in the past. Also consider the fact Chipley is not being able to put a ton of points up on the board last few games, this stacks the odds against Chipley winning this one and that is why I believe Jay will be victorious.
