Where: Bengal Stadium, Sunrise
Broadcast/streaming info: NFHS Network
Records: Blache Ely, 3-1; Piper, 4-0
Rankings: Blanche Ely is ranked No. 6 in Class 5A; Piper is receiving votes in Class 6A
What To Know: Blanche Ely is coming off a 42-13 loss to Atlantic (Delray Beach) in district play last week … The visiting Tigers started 3-0 including a 35-34 overtime victory over nationally ranked Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) in Week 2 … Blanche Ely has been averaging 42 points per game but is giving up 25.8 points per game … The host Bengals are off to their best start since the 2016 season … Last week, Piper defeated Coral Springs, 41-0 to take a lead in District 6A-13 … The Bengals have yet to yield a point to opposing offenses this season, posting four shutouts … Expect the Bengals to be primarily run-heavy with Juilen Halley leading the way who currently has 361 yards rushing on 54 carries and four touchdowns …. Defensively keep an eye on Antrell McWhirter and Jaytoin Thomas as they lead the Bengals in tackles with 25 and 23 respectively … Jahmar Midi leads Piper in sacks with four as the team on defense has a collective 16 sacks in four games.
Josh’s Pick: While we don’t have much on Blanche Ely’s statistics, the one thing we do know is that the Tigers have played a much tougher schedule so far compared to Piper. With that said we believe the Bengals will be handed their first loss of the season along with giving up their first points of the season on Friday night. BLANCHE ELY OVER PIPER
