  1. Tigers vs. Panthers! Well I think Boynton Beach may not have played a game of this 'magnitude" but they have played two teams this year arguably comparable or better then Dillard- neither of them slowed the Tigers down.....I think even if Dillard steps up the D, they are going to need a minimum of 35 points to have a shot at winning this game @ Boynton. Sorry, Dillard_High_Panthers (I'll be rooting for ya) but I think best case scenario I am seeing for Dillard is: Dillard: 27 Boynton: 34
  2. Coconut Creek also lost 36-28 to a decent team out of PA and gpt destroyed by Hallandale 33-7. So two poor teams and 3 good teams I guess....They are averaging 44 points a game, however Gibbons has only let up 24 points in 5 games this season. I think 35-14 is a solid prediction. Gibbons finishes off the season with Miami Jackson, @ Ely, @ American Heritage -Plantation and @ Coral Springs. I think the Gibbons/Heritage rivalry game will be a lot closer then last year and what people anticipate.
  3. Cardinal Gibbons will face it's first test this week @ Coconut Creek who has gone 3-2 through a pretty solid schedule. Anybody think Coconut Creek has a shot to pull the upset off at Home?
  4. Nice win for Dillard....@ Boynton next week! So has Dillard made some adjustments? If so, is it more players at certain positions or more formations and play calling?
  5. Not to change the subject in the battle of the bands which I actually think Dillard will win in a ROUT!.... Stranahan has actually seen some decent teams this year (not quite Dillards schedule though). Lost @ Home to Flanagan (0-36) and Lost @ Boynton Beach (27-54).... They also played two cupcakes @McArthur (W 34-6) and Suncoast (W43-7). I think they get 3 scores on Dillard but Dillard gets 5 or so. You know your team better then I do Dillard High but I just don't see a 49-14 blowout based on factoring these teams and scores. Then again emotions will always outscore a game played on paper. Hope your Panthers get it done in style!
  6. Sounds great Joshua....If there was a way you could get a stats/boxscore database for all sports in here, I would be all over it. Online boxscores (for all sports - football, basketball, track etc..) are hard to find these days, you basically have to go old school and pick up a newspaper.
  7. I won't doubt Dillard hungry for this win.... but I think it is a lot closer then 49-14. Stranahan's next 2 games is @ Dillard and @ Stoneman Douglas . They may not win either but I think the Dragons put up a fight... My prediction: Stranahan:19 Dillard:27
  8. If such a site was launched I would likely read other sports message boards but would not be likely to engage chatting in something I have no passion to talk about.....I think basketball and soccer might do well. I know that there is a travel soccer website based out of Florida that does really well with chat rooms/message boards even nationally.....not sure how HS soccer alone would do.
  9. I was just reviewing the schools in the Gold Coast Football League which does not have a classification. To my knowledge it is a independent league and they are not eligible for postseason play. This league just seems like a band aid for a few schools that could not compete in their previous division. You have Oxbridge Academy (a few hundred students) , Inlet Grove about 700 enrolled, Key West about 1250, North Broward Prep 1400, Archbishop McCarthy 1450, Pines Charter 1700 and Coral Glades with a whopping 2400. I cannot believe Coral Glades who used to be 8A through last year with 2400 students still may not win a game in this league. I know a little bit about this school and the teams surrounding Coral Glades. There are several 8A High Schools in the Coral Springs area - Coral Springs High, Stoneman Douglas, Taravella , Monarch and Coral Glades. All the schools have had up and down years and for the most part hold their own as average 8A teams in Broward. As for Coral Glades, although they are a newer school established in 2004 they actually have gone from average to horrendous over a 10 year cycle. I guess all of the talent attends the other schools in the city or something....I know for a fact that Cardinal Gibbons, American Heritage -Plantation and St. Thomas Aquinas all have athletes that are zoned for this school . What could have been... They have had numerous coaching issues and if I am not mistaken only have about 25 kids on the football roster. Not to get off topic but how does it work?. Does the District tell them they have to leave or does the school choose to leave? My input to this debate is what to do with a school of 2400 which would always be in the largest class of football that just can't compete? Where would you put a 8A enrollment school that is getting smashed by 1A size schools in the Gold Coast Football League? I am not writing this to bash the school just using an example as to where would you put a school like Coral Glades... Dropping football might be the solution but I can't imagine a school in South Florida with 2400 not having a football team. Perhaps there just needs to be a massive 'B" Division for schools (regardless of their enrollment size) that can't win more then 3 games a year for 3 years in a row. If a 'B' Division school wins 7 games or more for 3 years in a row they have the option to be fitted accordingly by their enrollment to the A division.
  10. @ Miramar, you are right the weaker schedule will hurt Flanagan but remember....they never beat Cypress Bay ever, until last year, now they appear to have replaced them as the only District team with a shot against the Patriots. The Flanagan game @ Cypress Bay was their only decent win in my opinion. It is not STA or AMH- Plantation but I would call it a decent road win. I still am not sold on the Miramar QB situation. I believe Miramar will need at least 20 pts @ Flanagan for the W....It was an 8 point game last year in Miramar and Flanagan is at least as good and they are at home. Add the Flanagan pass rush, great run stop and they might force the Miramar QB to win with his arm . Flanagan QB is solid, at home, and in a close game will have a better shot at the W in my opinion. Of course this game is a few weeks away so a lot can happen. Injuries, adjustments, improvements etc.... What about Monarch? They hung tough for 3 quarters last year post season @ Miramar then reality kicked in. But no one gave them a prayer in that game vs. Miramar.
  11. Yeah, it appears of the 5 teams in the District, only Plantation is a decent team. This year they seem to be down . They have to play the District games though....District is weak this year however, Northeast is a cupcake but Heritage on a neutral field , @ Don Bosco, @ Miramar, @ Cypress Bay (maybe better then Plantation - at least decent) and Deerfield Beach (not their fault Deerfield Beach has gone from Nationally ranked last year to average this year). I don't know when these schedules were made but I am guessing many anticipated Deerfield and Cypress would be better then what they are. But to answer your question , yes STA could probably beat Nova by over 75 if they feel like it....
  12. Gotcha. Makes sense then...Thx Zoe Boy. Looking at Northeast's schedule they just look like a punching bag. They may not win a game this year...
  13. Every team should be allowed a cupcake or two . Even BTW scheduled Monsignor Pace this week. Monsignor Pace, Northeast - same difference. As for other St. Thomas scheduling 8As in Broward- Flanagan and Monarch are the "TCU's and Boise States of 8A Broward" here is my reasoning....Monarch is way better then Deerfield ( they proved that last year in the postseason leading @ Miramar for 3 quarters and Flanagan has a better chance then ever to knock off Miramar this year. The problem is your going to get way more respect winning or LOSING to Miramar, beating Cypress Bay or Deerfield by 50 then if you beat Monarch or Flanagan by say 10-13 points. Even though Deerfield spanked St. Thomas last year and 2 weeks later they host Flanagan Postseason - Brandon Powell was stuffed for 34 rushing yards - game goes to OT and the Zebras make sure Deerfield beats Flanagan........Flanagan and Monarch quietly disappear, have no history, tradition etc....and God forbid if you lose to those teams you get looked down on. Until, Flanagan or Monarch win Districts , Regionals or States they are Nobodys.....However, even though Monarch's star receiver (Calvin Ridley) is done for the year, don't be surprised if Monarch or even Flanagan knock off Miramar this year. I believe Miramar is still 8A king in Broward but back to back against those two teams will not be easy.... To conclude , I agree seeing BTW/Aquinas/Miramar/ and Heritage all play each other every year would be the best but I guess sometimes the best have a respect for the best and it is just left at that.
  14. I did not get to watch or check the box score of this game but It sounds like Miramar had a little trouble offensively to finish off the game. Asking a Junior with 1.5 games Varsity experience to go out and score on STA could have been a little overwhelming...Not to take anything from the STA defense but your not going to win many games in high school scoring 12 points. As far as their game vs. Flanagan.... I agree that Flanagan's schedule will put them in shock when their QB has to face the Miramar corners. I also think Flanagan is going to rock the Miramar QB for a couple fumbles though. Unless Miramar's offense and their QB get their stuff together, I just don't see the Patriots scoring more then 17 points at Flanagan . Of course 4 weeks is ample time to prepare....Right now , I would go Flanagan 20 - 15 over Miramar if they met next week @ Flanagan...... As for St. Thomas , they get a well deserved rest with a couple of easier games the next two weeks. Then they head to Cypress Bay who might put up a fight for a little and hang within say- 24 pts....
  15. Steve Gorten of the Sun Sentinel wrote 'the players suspended are all believed to be defensive players' Did not specify the positions/starters etc..
  16. The local newspaper (Broward Sun Sentinel) just states 3 believed to be defensive players suspended for game for violation of team policy. I don't do the Twitter thing but the names might be out there somewhere...
  17. Big surprise here to me. Ely with the shocker in the swamp - 16- 0!
  18. It's gonna be interesting..... No one is willing to put Flanagan in the same sentence as Miramar, Aquinas and Heritage ( understandably) but I believe if they are the 4th team in Broward the gap is closer then ever. Miramar's huge advantage is their schedule strength over Flanagan. I give a slight edge to Miramar at Defense ( I think Flanagan has a better run stop but Miramar on the corners for sure) for now but a slight edge to Flanagan at O. Flanagan QB is solid and faster then you might expect... I think Miramar's biggest question mark is their new QB. Tonight will be interesting. I will be very impressed if the Junior can lead the team to victory against St. Thomas Aquinas....... I went to the Flanagan @ Miramar game last year and it was pretty close( I think Miramar won by 8) , this year Flanagan get's a shot at the District at home. Loser will likely head to Monarch post season and Winner will likely host???? they way things are going in that District possibly Douglas or Coral Springs. (Douglas hammered Deerfield last night and Springs had Hallandale on the ropes but gave up 28 unanswered points last night) One thing I might add is for some reason Everglades usually plays Flanagan tough or beats them. Flanagan is @ Everglades in 2 weeks. That is their only mental hump in the road until Miramar on 10/17.
  19. Just read the Coconut Creek QB threw for 350 yards and 6 TD's in the game.....They have to get this fixed form Boynton and Hallandale. If Dillard returns to week 1 form they should be able to play with those teams. Coral Springs almost had Hallandale tonight but gave up 28 straight points. Lost 28-20.
  20. Wow! Good call @ thagr8t1 . Cypress Bay had that home field momentum early on a sloppy, muddy field but Flanagan just wore them down in the second half and went on to a 33-10 victory.
  21. Damn....9 turnovers inside the 5 is rough . Almost sounds shady, like the kids want to get people fired...Not trying to beat a dead horse but it also means Coconut Creek marched down field for 95 yard drives several times as well. Defensive adjustments are going to be needed as well. I also picked Dillard to win this game but also new Coconut Creek can have an explosive offense at times (that one wide receiver is nasty) . Is the bigger problem the offense or defense in your opinion? By any chance do you have a link to the box score for this game?
  22. No specifics on three suspended STA players but all are rumored to be defensive players...
  23. These are clearly the second and third best teams in this District behind Miramar and I don't think Cypress Bay is wanting to give up the "second best " team in the District title as of yet. I think Cypress Bay keeps this game a little closer then 21. As good as the Flanagan defense has been I can't see Cypress Bay being held to a mere 7 points at home in this District matchup. However, I saw Flanagan play one game this year vs. Norland and they absolutely toyed with this team on both sides of the ball.... very well coached, physical team. They have a couple of linebackers that really bring it and will be a nightmare for anyone they face this season. My prediction: Flanagan: 23 Cypress Bay: 15
