Nobody is unbeatable sir. But Trinity is good. And they are fundamentally sound. Which means disciplined and high football IQ's. AHD is good too! You don't get where these teams are being mediocre so I am really looking forward to tomorrow. Everybody's already loaded up and ready to head down to O-town. The boys and everybody are coming!

I feel ya Zoe. Stuff like that is absolute bananas. Goes on wayyy too much. A player of mine had his house shot up with his mother inside because some idiot was looking for his brother. I read that happened in Kendall am I right?

Wow you know what Zoe. I let that one fly right over my head. What happened to Bryan is a shame only made worse by the fact they haven't found anyone. I just read an article about it and about his family. He seemed like a great person! God always takes His angels back home before we're all ready. RIP

    Class 3A Playoffs

The thing about Trinity is they are built the way a football team needs to be built. That is evidenced by the success they've enjoyed. They are big and nasty up front. They have LB's that can fly around and hit you or put extra pressure on the passer. They have a talented secondary in and of itself that only becomes even more dangerous when the pressure up front is created. Overall, defensively, they are stout. Stopping the run is key to the game of football and they do that very well. I have yet to see anyone really run on them. Thereby creating a one dimensional attack. The rub is in the fact the run is what AHD does best with their stable of runners. However, if your O-line cannot create places to run I don't care if you have Emmitt Smith back there. Offensively, Trinity features an added weapon they used to not really enjoy and that is a passing attack. Yes, Trinity is still a base run team because again, in the game of football you must be able to also run the ball to be successful. Trinity has always gotten that done. However, they now have a passing attack. It is not perfect and occasionally you'll see why it is not their bread and butter but you have to respect it as a defense. And that alone is enough to add another threat to have to gameplay for when you are preparing to defend them.

I'll give you the best D AHD has seen but I'll argue that AHD is not the best O Trinity has faced. Buford GA was very good and so were the cyborgs from IMG this season. I can assure you they have faced quite a few teams this season who have worked hard to do what you need to in establishing a run. Most people find out, you can't do it. Then they become one-dimensional and the beasts coming after the passer and the D1 talent in the secondary steps up. Looking forward to Saturday. I'd love to meet up and say hello.

Aww isn't that special! They aren't a one-dimensional team. They run 70% of the time and pass 30%. As a coach that to me is a running team. Of course almost nobody can ONLY run but c'mon. Anyway, notice one little tidbit your article (which thanks for sharing) points out. Trinity allows an average1.68 rushing yards per attempt. That's an average. There's been times where nobody gets anything. The whole game. Trinity's run defense has SHUT DOWN one of the state's top running backs. I want to say it was the kid from Providence but I forget. Kid was currently like the number one rusher in the state that averaged something like 300 a game and held him to like 50 some yards in 30 attempts. Something like that. But I do know first-hand that the Trinity kids took that kid personal and shut him AND his O-line down. So....bring your weapons AHD. Just don't bring a knife to gun fight, as the saying goes. When strength goes against strength....something's gotta give!

Man a lot of talk this season was about AHP. At least in certain circles. Then it became Clash of the Titans when AHP and AHD were gonna face off. That's maybe why I said that about AHP. But of course, you would have more local knowledge of those guys so interesting you say that. Mainland and Central will be a knockdown dragout IMO. But Central ain't no where near a joke! They have played and beaten some class! Now since I'm from Hillsborough county I wanted to see if there was ANY knowledge out here on those boys from the Panhandle Chocta who whatsitz called.... Lol. Armwood is a NASTY football team. So if they handle their business like I think they will then the Championship is gonna be a certified humdinger! Because if your boys handle Mainland, Armwood vs Central for the gold medal! WOW.

Zoe I feel ya. I was ALL Hillsborough county too. Went to school there, played there, later coached there. Now I live in and work in Jacksonville. I still pull for my Hillsborough county teams (some more than others) but I also pull for Trinity Christian because I have nephews that go there. One graduated and plays at Florida, one is playing now, and one is about to move to JV level next season. I can say that I truly have no dog in this fight. I respect both programs and absolutely LOVE the game of football and Florida HS football. I know sparks are gonna fly in that matchup! Central has knocked off some REALLY good teams so I know they have the ability. That's why I started the other thread about the team in 6A from Tampa that could potentially be the next round matchup. As far as this 4A matchup we'll see. It's hard to bet against Bolles. But I like BTW as long as they don't beat themselves.

Then if you know that about that coaching staff at BTW I now have nothing but respect for them also. As people. Hearing that is fantastic! I will always pull for coaches that do things the right way and look at their kids as more than what can you do for me on Friday night. The game of football is a wonderful vessel to use to teach and learn valuable life lessons. To teach our young men to be responsible, respectful, contributing members of society. So your a Central guy?

I'd be willing to give you some of those but they've also handled some pretty good teams. Namely American Heritage Plantation. They hung 42 on them. Then their performance in the playoffs. But either way, it's gonna be good. Really hard to argue with the Miami schools since they have to beat up on each other. SEC football comes to mind in that you win the SEC there's a good chance you can win anywhere. Same with some of those Miami schools. The Mainland QB is only a sophomore I believe.

I don't remember anything in Boiling Springs but a single stop light, a Hardee's, a laundromat, convenience store (I think), and a little old gas station. We had to go over into Shelby for ANYTHING just about. For entertainment even further. LOL. I'll bet that's what you're thinking.

Rain or shine sir! I've got family in the game. Wouldn't miss it.

    6A Playoffs

Not impressed with the O? Wow. Them boys average like 40 a game? Granted, I know what that means in the big picture but they also only give up like 8. Central scores around 36 a game but gives up close to 12. I can see this thing going either way. I've seen Mainland and they can play!
  14. JB40

    4A South

Yeah you're probably right about Central. I obviously didn't see that game but I saw they played just as close as Cocoa. Well, one point closer . BTW your boys?

    Class 3A Playoffs

Jerry, I'm well aware of AHD. Have been for some time and going back a few years. If you can recall Trinity Christian and American Heritage have traded wins and losses in the championship games a few times. I know Clearwater Central Catholic and American Heritage Delray have been the two favorites to represent the south end of the FHSAA playoff brackets this year. Just as my Trinity Christian Conquerors and Ocala Trinity Catholic were thought to be the ones representing the north. I've got nothing but respect for those boys but I also know what Trinity is. I know whom they've played and what they are capable of. They are a mighty bunch and this coming saturday in the new Citrus Bowl in O-town looks to be a fun one. Guess we'll just have to see won't we

Crest? Is that a HS? No man I went to school down here in FL. Played and later coached all in the Tampa area. Now I'm up here in Jacksonville doing my thing. What I was referring to was playing football at Gardner-Webb University.

Ok so apparently nobody talks about Armwood on here either. LOL. Just curious if there was anybody familiar enough with Panhandle football to give some insight. Wanted to see if Armwood has a shot at the marbles this year. How about that Daytona Beach Mainland/Miami Central game? To me there's gonna be some fireworks in that bad boy!
  18. JB40

    4A South

Man nobody said anything about them blowing anybody out. What people have been saying is how much of a juggernaut they are and can anybody stop them. They've played a veritable who's who and won them ALL. They are winners, hands down. They put their pants on one leg at at time just like everyone else but until somebody knocks off the giant they are favorites! I merely implied that Cocoa played them tight and showed they aren't untouchable.

Oh ok. That's good stuff! I have an old schoolmate friend in that area. I also briefly attended school a little bit west of you in Boiling Springs.

    Class 3A Playoffs

Jerry it is indeed interesting that you followed these guys and have been able to give some insight to it other than just word of mouth and film. To the point made before, AHD has used their run game effectively to control games. However, Trinity Christian's out and out strength is their defense. More specifically their RUN defense. So....strength on strength? I don't know but something will have to give. As I mentioned, Lakeland Christian could not run the ball and tried to use their short passing game to 1) offset the Trinity pressure on the passer and 2) replace what they could NOT do in the run game. Worked for a bit. Until......dun dun dun.....they adjusted. Good luck to your fellow Delray boys.

Where you coming from STARaider since you say "down"? Yeah Peez. You are correct. AHD had best figure out how to sling it around some if they are to have any hope. But then again, there are studs that reside in the secondary as well for Trinity. Lakeland Christian was made one-dimensional by the run D of The Conquerors and for a while was making things happen with the short passing game. As always, Trinity adjusted and sat on a few throws and the rest is history. I was at the FREEZING cold TCA/LCS game and for a while LCS was making some folks nervous. But as you mention, if AHD can't consistently move the ball it will be a long afternoon. I was also at last year's CCC/Trinity matchup so I know what you mean about the aerial attack. Also know they were without there boys. Tough break. Blame it on IMG

Ok so I'm from Tampa but currently living in Jacksonville. I don't normally discuss these guys but they are the big bad bullies in our area. I am talking about the Armwood Hawks. They are a physical, nasty, punch you in the mouth kind of program. They are HUGE and talented on both sides of the LOS (line of scrimmage). They have a defense that is stifling. They have an offense that will grind you up. They are consistently one of the better programs in the Tampa area. I don't know anything about their next opponent Choctawhatchee. Anybody out there have any thoughts? Info? I think Armwood is having one of their championship seasons.
  24. Yes indeed! I know more about the East Lake area, kids, program than I do STA but I know EL will be in for the game of their lives. Y'all have a small college program going over there! Great program.
  25. Brevard is South Florida? Lol. Just messing around. Yeah, I heard Clewiston was ready to go. I guess they feel like you guys have losing to BTW. Again? Dagnabbit! Seriously man, I am always pulling for Cocoa. Between family and their coaching staff, I always gotta go for your boys! I love that D!
