At this point I still think Escambia would be the favorite however I don't feel the gap between Escambia and Washington is as big as some view it is on a state level

Not saying Escambia won't win that game but I wouldn't be surprised if Washington ended up winning either

I agree Washington could pull it off but their offense is just not that good to me. Yes they're scoring 30 a game but they haven't really faced a solid defense (not good/great) besides West Florida and Milton. The PF game would have answered some questions but the game was called off in the 3rd quarter.

One loss and suddenly we have no chance to compete?

Escambia looks decent but honestly not even sold on them being best in their district much less best in 6a north

Both Columbia and Escambia had close games with Pine Forest. Escambia's offense is better than Pine Forest and the defense is about the same between the 2. So you think Washington is the best team in their district ?

  3. I think Escambia is the best team in the Panhandle and it may/may not be close. Pine Forest offense leaves a lot to be desired and the defense is solid. Niceville is not that good.

I really wish Escambia schedule would have been a little more challenging. Mike Bennett had a lot of talent on those Pensacola High teams but he only made it to the championship once in 20 years there, so I'm curious to see how far this Escambia team can go.

  4. Outside of Miami, everybody else is irrelevant. The panhandle got talent but it's just spread out. I don't know what to make of Crestview yet. They looked really good last year until they lost to Gulf Breeze. Everybody else is pretty much on the same level. Escambia seems like they're peaking but I don't think they're a threat to make it to the semis at this time.

  5. Their best playmaker got injured early in that game against Pine Forest but I'm not sure if he played after that game. Hard to say what exactly happened but none of those games were bad losses. All the panhandle teams were pretty even...West Florida, Navarre, Gulf Breeze, Niceville, Escambia, Pine Forest and Tate.

  6. If Choctaw could score 40 on Crestview, I'm sure niceville won't have a problem scoring 60. I'm interested to see if either defense can stop the offense from scoring. Michael Carter is good but Navarre didn't look all that good Friday night. Like I said, there's a huge gap between Niceville and everybody else.

  7. That score is correct. Injuries and expulsions have done this team in. Starting qb got hurt first game and has been struggling to stay on the field since then. One of the starting running backs is out with a shoulder injury and another got expelled week 3. They had a couple more underclassmen get expelled. The talent is there but the coaching is definitely not up to par.

  8. Pollard is not the same coach that won those state championships. That info comes from former players and coaches. He's like Bobby Bowden was in his last years with FSU. He doesn't really coach these boys, I've never seen or heard of a PF team that could actually defend the pass. How in all these years with the talent they've had do they struggle so bad against the pass. When you're running a 4-4 defense against a pass happy offense, that's not good. They refuse to come out that defense for some reason instead of playing 2 safeties. Pollard does not trust his assistants with the offense. This team should be scoring 35 ppg easy.

  9. It was a good game but PF coaching is just really suspect. PF had 4 starters out on defense and one of their play makers on offense is done for the season. The talent is definitely there but the coaching is keeping this team from reaching its full potential. I still think PF is one of the best teams in the area. Navarre struggled with Choctaw and PF beat Choctaw pretty easy so there still in the mix.

  10. 2015: I think we can all agree Trinity Christian was top 5 in Florida last year. TC 42 West Orange 14. TC 32 Pine Forest 22. I don't know the specifics of the West Orange game but after watching the PF game, Pf had a legit chance of pulling the upset.

2016: I hate to speak early on Pine Forest but this team looks great on paper. Their secondary has question marks but every thing else looks good to great. The offense is loaded with "South Florida" speed. I'm talking legit 4.4 and 4.5's. The O-line has nice size. Not small like a Cocoa but not huge like Aquinas. The D-line has good size with a good combo of speed. The linebackers are on the average size but have decent speed. The secondary is a huge question mark. I've never seen a PF team that could defend the pass all that good and I'm not expecting anything different this year at the moment. I feel better about the secondary if their D1 headliner Jacob Copeland is at safety at least. The team is not loaded with D1 prospects like other teams in the state but they have plenty of players that should play at the next level. On paper, PF should not have problems with Niceville or Navarre but those teams can throw and that's a problem for PF. I really wish most of the talent in Pensacola would go to 1 or 2 schools and do some special things.
