  1. To prove my point, a list of state championship sites: Swimming- Stuart Volleyball: Ft Myers Golf: Howie-In-the - Hills Cross Country: Tallahassee Basketball: Lakeland Soccer: DeLand Wrestling: Kissimmee Baseball: Ft Myers Softball: Clermont Track: Gainesville Apparently the panhandle area can’t host anything other than cross country? Until proven otherwise there is a clear bias within FHSAA against panhandle teams that requires those teams to travel far greater distances, year in and year out, than teams and schools from any other part of the state.
  2. FHSAA would designate Orlando as the site for all playoff games so panhandle teams would have the furthest to travel. Or maybe Boca.
  3. Well put, and the weather is going to be cold for any central, south Florida teams making the trip north and west to Lower Alabama.
  4. Gonna be a cool and fun night Friday in Niceville. My wife is already pissed at me because I passed on a party to go to the game. You don’t get football weather often in Florida and I’m not missing out. I can’t wait
  5. Damn spellcheck, fun, loud and just a great place
  6. Being retired Marine Corps and a high school football fan I have seen a lot of games in a lot of places, including Pensacola High vs Escambia with Emmitt Smith in 1984. Niceville has the greatest atmosphere for a game I’ve ever been too. It’s just fun, loud, and alteration place.
  7. Chile’s at Niceville was completely full.
  8. Then I’ll try again; Niceville, Escambia, Baker, Catholic, Blountstown
  9. Niceville, Escambia, Pine Forest, Baker, Pt St Joe
  10. We have better beer brats at the game in the Panhandle. Closer to Alabama BBQ, makes a big difference over S Florida Cuban BBQ. Still good but not as good. (I bet that creates a stir on the site)
  11. Dan, I'm thoroughly familiar with his website and find it very illuminating and I think he does a good job. My curiosity really comes from why he has Niceville ranked so high. What has he seen that I haven't seen.
  12. Damn, you win. Beats tubas and flag twirlers any day. How bout boiled peanuts, anybody got some of those?
  13. I'm gonna stick with using the number of flag twirlers in the band divided by the number of tuba players till proven otherwise.
  14. We are all fans of high school football because it's fun. Rankings, and trying to rank teenage boys is foolhardy at best, just make it more fun for those of us who like talking about it and can't play it any more. But my question was what data or formulae does Laz use for his basis of comparison? He might use how many tubas the band has or which school has the best looking cheerleaders. Looking at the rankings and the way it changes week to week I can't figure out what he uses.
  15. What exactly is the Laz index, what is used to rank teams? I ask because it seems, based on Badbirds very good summary, that Laz has it figured out better than Max Preps and I don't trust the new points system in place after the Baker Chipley game. Head to head match-ups must matter, particularly for home field advantage in the playoffs.
  16. And I don't think a Destin high school will impact Niceville much. The last big tract of property, roughly a 1000 acres has started into development. I'm not sure where room for those kids will be found at Niceville. Granted, it's a 30 year project but houses are beginning to be built or will be shortly. Certainly before Destin high comes along.
  17. With the current transfer rules I'm not sure the areas of the state with less dense populations will be able to compete on a regular basis with the central and southern teams. It's all about numbers of players available. Sure, any school could win the lucky sperm contest and have 2 or 3 real 5 star players that enable a run but using just home grown talent with the current rules you don't stand a chance year in and year out.
  18. It was 49-10 in the 3rd with a running clock and Hicks pulled the starters and tried to get everyone playing time. Choctaw scored three TDs
  19. It's posted, file was too big so I made a thumbnail of it. You just can't see writing on the 500 pound bomb hanging on the wing
  20. The paper offices are next door to the practice field, the writers can see it from the window. They might have wandered over and found a story. Besides, sports writers for the NWFDN got nothing else to write about.
  21. My profile shows one uploaded image. But it doesn't show up. Beats me, there aren't any other options than what I've already done.
  22. Actually, my picture is in my profile it doesn't show when I post so thats a web site issue
  23. I tried but it wouldn't let me
